The hotel has very recently been taken over by von Essen hotels and I suspect this is a very good thing. Currently the hotel and grounds are a bit shabby and run down and the place and fittings do need upgrading. We stayed here as guest at a wedding, what a lovely, small personal hotel. We rushed in (running late, it takes long than you think to get there from London) and the chap checking us in was totally understanding and gave us our key with the minimum of fuss. Room was a standard double, very large, plenty of hanging space.... more

With regards to the review dated 10 april, i'd like to state that i have been a regular at Hunstrete House for a good many years and can honestly say i'v never come across a 'non' english speaking receptionist, they are mainly local girls. I infact had a party here in late January and had a very delightful experience. more
