Room was nice clean comfortable, restaurant and bar dated but clean, food ok no better, breakfast although ok served in a cold lifeless conservatory even a radio would have given a better atmosphere, can imagine beer garden in summer would be great location but it didn't apeal on a wet and windy night in November

Stopped over as the M5 was closed and was served by Lydia and she was lovely, very attentive and worked very hard, if all staff in pubs were as good as her it would be a blessing, well done Lydia! Will certainly stop by again if I'm in the area. Didn't really get a look outside because the weather was... More

Lydia is indeed a gem. Don't know what I would do with her here. I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay even though that particular day had been a nightmare, what with the motorway and the weather. Thanks for taking the time to leave a review More

My second visit to the Boat and Anchor, if you find a good 'un stick with it. The first visit the room was situated upstairs. this is accessed via stair by the entrance. This time I was in the new rooms to the side. The upstairs room was wonderful, a good size and a lovely layout. The new rooms are... More

We pulled off here for a quick lunch. Had friendly welcome and the traditional pub food was well priced. On a sunny day it would be a lovely place for a few hours right by the canal. BIt dark on the inside but lots of character with canal photos and prints on the wall and the food was nice. Better... More

Glad you enjoyed your visit and thank you for taking the time to write. We agree it is a bit dark inside but we've been renovating upstairs all year and as we do everything ourselves we have to prioritize the jobs. Anyway we have just painted inside the bar area and lightened it up quite a bit. Frustratingly we are... More

I was directed here after struggling to find a room in Travelodges and it was a real blessing. The landlady was very welcoming and helpful. Room was spotless and king sized bed very comfortable. Breakfast served in open and pleasant extension . It's a shame I couldn't stay longer , en route to John O Groats. Biker friendly....thanks again.

I arrived at the hotel, which took 2 mins from junction 24 on the M5. Large private car park with cctv, and night lighting, I love my car so great start. Went in to the reception/bar and was greeted by the landlord, who booked me in and gave me the keys to the room. Found my room, it was immaculate... More

Great location, excellent food, lovely staff and a very quiet, peaceful nights sleep. Highly recommended. Being on the canal is a beautiful location, really nice to stay in a local business and much nicer than a chain hotel any day.

Glad you enjoyed your stay and thanks for the review. The downstairs rooms being the best is a matter of opinion! They are new and all the same. Upstairs, every room is different and we think have the charm and character of the old original cottages. More

The room was comfortable with all amenities. The bar area rather dated but the staff friendly and helpful. Dinner was a case of less and better quality would have been more acceptable but must recommend The Leek and Potato soup, the best I've ever had Breakfast was good . prompt service too. There is a pleasant walk along the old... More

Glad that overall your stay was good. We have given the bar a face lift as we are aware of how dated it looked. The owner kind of likes it the way it is, so changes have to made gently!! More

We attended a relations Wedding reception and was impressed the the services from the members of staff working there (including all the efforts from Sue and Jean). We cannot fault the service here and the hardwork from all the members of staff throughout the evening. The food was fantastic and would thank the Chef and his members also. The accommodation... Thank you so much for the glowing review. We thoroughly enjoyed the wedding too! You were all lovely. When the extension is built and we don't have a building site next door we will be doing a lot more events. So thanks to Colin and Helen for choosing us. A great day was had by all. More
