The food was yummy and well presented and choice on the menu was very big! Room was lovely over looking the beautiful canal and couldn't even hear the rail way... We have called in many times and the place was open . Greeted by surly person sitting on table inside door - What do you want ? Answered, a larger... More

Well you arrived before we were open. We were under no obligatiin to serve you. You are correct we were sorting out the staff wages at the time. The gentleman in question is the owner and has been such for over 30 years so there has been no change in management. We are sorry you did not enjoy your experience... More

Thank you to Michael and his team for a wonderful experience, lovely food and really helpful and friendly staff. Convenient location for motorway. The room was very modern and clean with a comfortable bed and a powerful shower and the restaurant was really clean. I would stay there again and would recommend to all. I will be going back.

2nd visit still not good called again en route to Devon/Cornwall. Partner had steak and Kidney Pie and chips which was average I had Hot bacon and chicken salad, which consisted of small pieces of chicken and bacon very plentiful over a good salad. Only problem I had an upset stomach for the rest of the holiday so definitely would... More

What a terrible mistake to stay here! The owner was rude and slovenly, the inn is right under the motorway and next to the rail way. Most of outside was a derelict building site. In the room it was very noisy when we opened the window for a breath of fresh air, the dressing table drawers were full of old... More

Travel lodge was full . The manager recommended the Boat and anchor ( we paid £10 over the odds so I guess that's his fee ). The canal side of the place is beautiful ,but the rest of the grounds looks like an abandoned building site. The room was basic and clean but unbearably hot There was no hair dryer... More

This is a pub that is off the beaten track. It was a real gem of a find. The staff were very helpful, and the kitchen served up a beautiful meal for 5 weary travellers. Highly recommended. They also agreed to cook breakfast for us the next day, even though we were staying at the local Travelodge(not recommended). I would... More

This place doesn't pretend to be gourmet or luxury, but is in a fantastic location and has friendly genuine people wanting to help you. The grey parrot seems to run the operation but the others make a good fish and chips. Well worth a visit for a cold pint or two by the canal.

This one night stay was poor from start to finish. On arrival I booked in at the bar. The young girl who took payment made no attempt at conversation and when the transaction was complete disappeared leaving me in limbo. Another barmaid appeared some time later and realised I had been stood there for quite some time and sorted out... More
