I stopped at the hotel to enquire about booking a family lunch. I asked to look around but was so rudely treated by the proprietor that I was left speechless. Despite being situated in a beautiful location, and the kindness of another member of staff who could sense my upset, my advice is to avoid this hotel at all costs.

Having made a scheduled stop at this location on a sunday with my husband and aunt hoping to have a much awaited lunch, I was faced with a deserted reception, waiting a few minutes after ringing the bell & still no sign of anyone, I turned to a couple of guests who pointed me in the direction of the proprietor,... This iconic hotel has become a disaster - the food is terrible and the service worse. It might be wonderfully situated but there is nothing at all inside which inspires any of the senses. The place is currently on the market but that's no excuse for poor staff and appallingly bad quality. Someone might buy it and improve the standards... More

A party of four of us stayed at this hotel and had the worst service ever! I'm not going to write a long review I'll just list how bad the service was: No towel in one of our rooms, food at restaurant didn't turn up as order was mixed up and not placed after waiting for more than an hour,... More

This hotel looks out over a lake to the mountains. The lounge also with a view over the lake and the dining room were smart and comfortable. The food was good although only jams for breakfast, no marmalade or honey. Our room was clean, the beds comfortable. The shower head was lying in the bath and we discovered why -... More

T'yn y Cornel sits next to the very beautiful Tal y llyn lake at the foot of Cadair Idris in the spectacular Snowdonia National Park. My father and I visited this hotel this week as part of a plane spotting trip over to Mid Wales. On approach to the hotel I had a scary thought.....was it closed? The establishment looked... More

I have been using this hotel for some years and took my family for an overnight break. I recognise the reality behind a lot of the comments made on trip advisor, but few of those faults seriously spoil anything. I would have to say that we were made most welcome and enjoyed a good quality stay. Room was clean and... More

Had a wonderful visit to this hotel by the lake. The room we had was very comfortable with a view of the lake through a round window.bathroom was very clean with good sized towels. The dining experience was excellent too with friendly staff. We came for a rest in a beautiful setting and our wishes were granted. We will come... More

I love the setting of Tyn y cornel Hotel. Years ago it was a great place to stay or stop for a meal. It has gone down hill really badly but we still call in occasionally , in hope of finding that it has improved. Last week we went there for lunch and the hotel was closed. Someone arrived who...
