We recently stayed here in two pre-booked single en-suite rooms. The rooms were very comfortable, clean, well appointed, and nicely decorated. We had dinner on two nights, the food was tasty, well cooked and well presented. Breakfast was better than average (fresh citrus segments instead of tinned!). The proprietor was very attentive, as mentioned by other reviewers, but not annoyingly... More

As an associate of George B, I wish to take issue with his ambitious claim that "I have been entrusted with the front door keys of varying establishments since the age of twelve, and with great success." This is somewhat economical with the truth. I can recall a number of instances during hotel stays where George B has experienced poor... More

Many of the issues mentioned in previous reviews are utterly beyond the control of the owner. TV, radio & telephone reception are awful in the area so I cannot understand how any blame can be placed at Mr Holt's doorstep. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the rooms well appointed. Breakfast was superb with more choices than one would expect... More

We were greeted by the owner who offered to carry our bags from the car to our room. The room was spotlessly clean. We were concerned that it faced the main road on the ground floor, but the road became quiet after 10 PM. The bed was very comfortable and the room was warm but not stuffy. There is no... More

Lovely and quiet but an odd atmosphere with no other guests. A bit strained. No wifi or TV which normally would be a good thing. Breakfast was ok but nothing special. Interesting decoration. Not great value.

We stayed for 3 nights at the hotel, over a weekend. The room was decorated well and nicely presented and also spotlessly clean. We ate there each night and breakfasted each morning. The food was very tasty and fresh. The owner was most accommodating and looked after us extremely well. If in the area again, I would be happy to... More

I stayed here for a night in order to walk Cader Idris. The hotel is in a perfect location to do so, being only a hundred metres or so from the car park used by the walkers. The owner greeted me on arrival and even carried my bag up to the room. I had a small single en suite room... More

If you are looking for modern then this is not for you - not a TV in sight. However, if you are looking for old fashioned values - clean, comfy, good ale, good food and personal, attentive service then IT IS FOR YOU. My wife and I stayed for 3 nights and would stay again. The scenery is great, there... More

Stayed for one night as working nearby, found the drinks highly expensive: a can of coke £2, JD (single) and coke £5.50 (despite coke being part of a multi-pack) and a pint of lager £3.75. Found the Manager to seem to make up the prices as he went along, with no set prices on display as far I could see.... More

Thank for your reply you obviously don’t realise that in beautiful rural wales in the most stunning scenery you’re likely to see we have to make some modern day sacrifices unfortunately most of these beyond our control. I don’t intend to “Lambast” anyone I simply respond to reviews as I see it. We do display all our prices as it... More

We popped in for an evening meal on Saturday after viewing the website and deciding that it looked good and the reviews seemed good too. Well we soon learnt the difference between fact and fiction!! We arrived about 7.30 and despite there only being a couple of locals in the bar and a table of walkers outside we were curtly... More

Thank you for your very informative review which is full of false information and lies, very childish just because we were fully booked on the evening and you wasn't able to dine with us. Let me address your comments At 7.30pm on the eve in question, we had a table of 8 guest dining outside, they brought some friends along... More

The Minffordd Hotel in Talyllyn valley, Mid Wales is set in probably the most breathtaking scenery in Britain and is literally situated at the base of the Cader Idris with the summit being 1 1/2 miles NW of the hotel, the start of the Minffordd path is 5 mins away.
