Having searched Tripadvisor and as a result of the great reviews The Old Rectory on the Lake was our choice for an overnight stay , we were not disappointed. The accommodation was very comfortable, fabulous bathroom, and the views across the lake amazing. We booked ourselves in for the four course evening meal which was delicious as was breakfast the... I am glad that TripAdvisor did not let you down and we lived up to our reviews and that we were the ideal place for you to convalesce after your operation. Also so pleased that you enjoyed your visit to Mary Jones’s Chapel at nearby Llanfihangel-y-Pennant - we direct many a guest to this magical place. Mary Jones was a... More

Just had two lovely days and nights at the Old Rectory where John and Ricky provide excellence in everything they offer. We originally called in for a dinner one Saturday night towards the end of August and enjoyed it so much that we thought we would try their accommodation as well. We were not disappointed.

Thanks for venturing from across the water to initially dine with us and then returning a couple of weeks later to actually stay with us. Your kind comments are really appreciated and we are pleased that you really enjoyed your two nights with us in The Rectory Retreat. We hope you will come and see us again and with luck... More

We stayed here for the weekend for our anniversary. Having read the reviews on here beforehand obviously our hopes were high, we were not to be disappointed. On driving up to the Rectory we were amazed by the superb views of the lake and the utter calmness of the area. The welcome we received from John was warm and kind,... More

Four 'amazings' - we are well flattered! Reviews like yours just give us an incredible lift as it means we must be doing something right. I am also so flattered what you have written about my cooking and these type of appreciative comments just galvanise me to try and achieve even more. I am not sure I have a 'real... More

We have just returned from a two night stay for our seventh anniversary. Despite the bad weather on the actual day, the Old Rectory and the area are thoroughly recommended. It is beautifully located on the shores of Talyllyn Lake, and maintained to a very high standard. The restuarant is in a sensitive extension. The Lake itself and surrounding area... More

Thank you for your detailed recommendation and I am so glad you enjoyed staying in our Rectory Retreat so much. True the conditions were not brilliant for your actual anniversary but it is obvious you made the best of the day! What did Billy Connelly say? ''There's no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothing, so get yourself... More

I noticed this amazing place while I was staying at a hotel opposite …. at night The Old Rectory on the lake was lit in blue and its reflection in the still waters was just incredible. Next morning I asked the receptionist what the building was across the lake and she told me it was a private home …. lucky... More

Daz, many thanks for this. I am amazed that the receptionist across the water said we were a private home as we bought The Old Rectory from her hotel six years ago to set up a five star bed and breakfast establishment and have been busy doing just that ever since! Anyway at least you have discovered us now and... More

Just got back from a weekend at the Old Rectory after a friend recommended the place to us. I had read the reviews and looked at the photos and was not disappointed. The drive to The Old Rectory is beautiful and very dramatic. The accommodation is spotlessly clean. We were in The Retreat which was very spacious and the view... More

We couldn't have wished for a better location - no traffic, in the middle of nowhere and stunning views. Dinner is a must, excellent value - 4 courses, all beautifully presented. We were very well looked after - service is great.

I spent a few days at the Old Rectory with some friends and frankly, I couldn't have chosen a better place for our holiday.
