We spent one night here to attend a wedding reception at Lains (?) Barn. Located something like 5 to 10 mins walk away from the middle of the charming little market town of Wantage the B and B is in a traditional red bricked detached house. Rooms are cosy - very nice decor throughout (They are in the middle of... More

We were attending a wedding at Lanes Barn, Wantage and chose to stay at Alfred’s Lodge also in Wantage, just 2- 3 miles away. We arrived on the Thursday before the wedding on the Saturday, to be met by the owner Jane, a lovely person who couldn’t have made us more welcome and done anything more for us. It is... More

Very well presented, maintained and clean. Nothing seems to be to much trouble. A good location just off the town centre which is 5 mins. walk away. I have used other B&Bs in Wantage area and would rate this one very highly despite one or two negative reviews. I suppose some just don't feel they have enjoyed their day unless... More

I booked a stay for 4 days in Wantage for my brother and I as we had to burry our mothers ashes with our Grandparents in West Hanney. This was her last wishes. When we arrived early just to get our bearings for the room and then the church etc. the attendant Kim greeted us at the door and was... More

Easy to find and not noisy at all. Charming premises with all your home comforts. Jane was exceptionally welcoming & adapted to our last minute change of plan. Bed comfy, linen fresh & shower clean & hot! Close to town too. Will stay here again. Oh breakfast - yum!!

A second day of fully horizontal rain walking the Ridgeway, we arrived outside the door of Alfred's Lodge, complete with Choc Lab (he probably looked less mucky than us!). Jane greeted us at the door with towels, drying facilities and a helping hand. Next thing we knew we were relaxing in a very nice room and thinking dinner. Certainly the... More

Nice place with everything you need for a short stay. The room we stayed in was large, modern and spotlessly clean. The breakfast the next day was absolutely brilliant. Only thing I would say is that the shower is a bit odd. You have to run the sink tap to get the shower to run hot. However would definitely recommend.

We decided to have a short one night break and found this place had room available and good reviews. After we had booked on line the owner sent a text to say she would have to go out late afternoon on the day of our arrival. She asked what time we would arrive so she could arrange for someone to... This is a perfect B&B: the owner was friendly and efficient, the rooms were extremely comfortable and modern, the wifi was super-fast, and the breakfast was superb. The location is a little outside of the centre of town, but it's worth the (short) walk. Every aspect of this place has had a lot of work put into it and it... More
