Having been recommended the hotel, was looking forward to my stay. When I arrived, booked in with the receptionist and was given my key. Went in to the broom cupboard (sorry, room) and could not believe the size of it. This was undoubtedly, the smallest room I have ever stayed in! I fully appreciate that it was a single room, but there is single and then there is this room. On exiting it, to get my bag, the receptionist, asked if the room was ok, When I responded, had the previous tenant been "Harry Potter" she laughed. Anyway, that aside, thought I would give it the benefit of the doubt. Sadly, things went down from there. The TV in the room was on the side of the "fee Standing wardrobe, so when you opened it, everything moved. There was cracks above the doorway into the bathroom, and the room was very tired. Marks on most walls, old chipped furniture and everything seemed loose. The ensuite sink was loose and moved. The shower was old, had the hand shower part capped off and did not work well. Also the room was really dark and seemed dingy and was really hot. Even when I turned the radiators off. I was out for the evening so was glad that I did not have to spend any length of time. On my return, went to bed but the outside corridor door kept being wedged open and as it was next to reception, was really noisy. This continued early in the morning, as the staff were really noisy. Finally breakfast. Went in to the dining room and was just told "sit anywhere you want" no greeting, nothing. Waiter came, ordered the breakfast and tea. Then when it came, was really small, was over cooked and not hot. Toast was brought, was cold and there was no butter. Tried to speak to someone, but there was no-one around. So ate a little and then left. So overall, in summary, great position in the centre of town. Looks great from the outside, but once inside, is tired, in poor condition, dark, dingy and too hot. customer service is non existent and will not return. Its such a shame, as it is in an ideal position, in a lovely location but lets itself down, as soon as you walk through the door…
