Only stayed one night but here’s the main points Clean, well equipped and spacious room. Nice grounds and building. Breakfast included was satisfactory and plentiful. There are no facilities so forget staying more than a few days.. 40 mins walk down the tow path to Oxford. Overall good but if you pay the advertised £150 you could get a lot... more

Decided to spend a weekend in Oxford, and we choose this hotel as our original couple of choices were fully booked. Our room was in the main building and to be honest it was clean & well furnished with a nice large bathroom - although it was overpriced for what it was. Wallpaper was peeling off above the window, which... more

We went to this hotel for my husbands birthday Thursday to Sunday. We booked via the Hotel website, which is not as its portrayed. The first room they gave us on the ground floor as we asked for a low floor because my husband is not good with stairs and there is no lift , the windows would not lock... more

I booked a Sunday night on the internet and got a price of £70 as opposed to £180 or £190. My room was in Elm House, which felt about half a mile from reception as I carried my own bag through the gardens in the dark. It was not very well signed. There were guests shouting in Spanish and slamming... more

We have been to this hotel several times before and have never been disappointed despite the ownership seeming to change every year! Best to book online for the best rates. Located in lovely Iffley,a ten minute stroll to the riverside to relax and feed the ducks and geese. A five minute walk takes you to the bus stop for Oxford,buses... more

Only stayed half board for 2 days. The room allocated was in the main hotel building and was definitely in need of refurbishment. The bathroom was even worse - the brass fittings were dilapidated especially the toilet seat where the fittings were green! The sealant around the bath was mouldy and the shower head was caked in limescale. The room... more

We stayed in the Elm House block of Hawkwell Hotel and it was lovely. Very comtemporary, decent size room, nice touches and great value. The main hotel seemed a little tired - tartan carpets - so I was pleased we weren't staying there. Breakfast was chaotic though - only two waiting staff so tables weren't cleared when they became free... more

My wife and I struggled to find somewhere to stay in Oxford for a very busy June weekend - we were attending the 550th Anniversary of my old college, along with 5000 others, for a fantastic garden party! But all the central hotels fully booked. Knowing Iffley as a quaint village now engulfed by Oxford suburbia, we were surprised to... more

We took two friends who were visiting from Canada to Hawkwell House Hotel. The greeting by staff was friendly and the rooms were just perfect. The most comfortable beds with crisp white linen and lots of towels. We could open the windows and look out onto trees and gardens. We could walk into Oxford after looking around the village - the... more

The bed was very comfortable and the room was a good size. Overall the hotel was pleasant enough but it lost a lot of marks in the detail, the scuff marks on the walls and radiators, the floor of the restaurant had not been hoovered and there were only a few people dining there that evening so it would not... more
