We stopped by on a Sunday evening for a quick meal on the way home from a visit, so only used the restaurant. The waitress who welcomed us was very helpful and friendly. The menu was restricted from usual (because it was Sunday evening), but it had plenty of pub staples like Fish and Chips, Burgers and Pizza. The Beer-battered... More

Stayed here for one night, arrived when the pub was shut in the afternoon but the landlord saw me in the car park and showed me to my room! The room was clean, comfortable and had everything you could want! I had my evening meal in the bar which was delicious and quick to arrive! Breakfast was again delicious! The... More

We used to visit the Horse and Jockey on a regular basis before the fire and subsequent re-furbishment, and always found both the food and the ambience excellent. However, due to the closure, we found ourselves another bolthole which we have continued to frequent. We wonder if this has happened to a number of people who live outside of Stanford.... More

Thanks to the manager at this hotel, the accommodation was very clean and well presented, the breakfast in the morning was served with a smile, and the service was excellent, friendly and efficient. The bar area is very olde worldy, with a log fire and old beams which give the whole place atmosphere

Was visiting friends who frequent the Horse and Jockey regularly. Was looking forward to my meal as it is a treat for me to eat out. I had scallops and black pudding followed by apple crumble. The scallops were miniscule and the pea and mint sauce was smaller than a tear drop. The apple crumble was sickly sweet and I only... More

We are so sorry you were disappointed with your meal. We had a lot of positive feedback about the scallops special so we're surprised to hear you felt your portion was too small. It's a real shame that you didn't tell us as we'd have happily increased your portion size, as you said our staff are friendly, they would have... More

Thi was my first time at this hotel and booked for a business visit was unsure what I would find. On arrival at the hotel I was greeted by the couple who own the hotel and was given a guided tour of where I was staying. I was then left to my own devices. When I went for my evening... More

Lovely pub and nice staff but the food could have been better - small portions! There was no bread with the soup, very small pate starter, plates were lukewarm, but the food, especially the roast potatoes was cold, we had to request all the meals to be re-heated in the microwave! Roast meals should be hot - I can only... More

We were visiting family in the area for a wedding evening and chose to stay at the Horse & Jockey. Charles Gaunt contacted us prior to our visit to see if food would be required as they were very busy on the evening we arrived. We were shown to our room in a courtyard. The room were very clean. There... More
