A good hostelry needs to have the basics right: first and foremost a comfortable bed, also a clean and quiet room, finally a decent breakfast. Well the breakfast was ok, but nothing else was right. You'd expect a place in the middle of fields to be quiet, but the walls between rooms were so flimsy you could hear your neighbours... More

3.5 stars! We were attending an early wedding ceremony in Abingdon & having informed of our early arrival, delightfully the room was ready for us! We had one of the chalet style rooms which was average sized but with a newly replaced and very clean bathroom. Extra touches like a mini fridge were welcome. The rooms could do with a... More

2 day stay here for the weekend in Abingdon. Room was well equipped and cosy. Breakfast was beautiful and it was very good value. Only point is to please get some lights down the main drive way so we can see where we're going in the dark as we were on foot. Would definitely go back. Thank you!

We stayed at the 'Kingfisher Barn' during the summer 2014. We (a family of four) settled into 'The Nest' and loved every minute of it. The apartment has the most wonderful view over open fields. There was a supply of basic food (coffee, milk and orange juice) when we arrived. We really appreciated the washing machine in the apartment as... More

Stayed for two nights. Quiet part of the town. Stayed in a twin bed room - nothing amazing but perfectly adequate. Bathroom clean and tidy and good hot water. Room even came with a fridge and a microwave which is useful especially if you fancy a microwave meal as no on site restaurant. Was disappointed that teas and coffee weren't... More

Just returned from staying at the hotel for 3 nights we moved rooms after the first night the bed was so bad that I asked for a move of room. This was accommodated without fuss however the new room had had a dog staying in it before and I had to ask for it to be sprayed with air freshener.... More

Not the best experience. Really difficult to get hold of, I left messages several times on the week preceeding arrival to say I would be arriving late evening and that I needed an earlier breakfast if possible. When you arrive you have to ring up for a night porter to let you in which takes about 10 to 15 minutes.... More

We arrived about 21:00 and had to wait for someone to arrive for check-in, but only 10 mins or so and they were so pleasant and accommodating we soon forgot the wait. We were shown to our cottage and it turned out to be the wrong one so a quick walk to the right one. We had asked for early... More

Booked two double rooms for a night away as friends were coming. Had a phone call from them on the Tuesday to say as there were four of us they would like to upgrade us to one of the lodges. We accepted and so glad we did, it was lovely to all be together. Lodge was very clean and breakfast... More

We enjoyed our stay and found it peaceful. Staying in the centre of Abingdon can prove noisy with all the parties and bars with music so it's nice to be 10 minutes away. It also benefits from a swimming pool which made us feel much better in the morning. But…it needs some updating. The paint was peeling very badly on... More
