Don't expect 5 star. Could be improved. Lovely location. Our room 31 a suite had lovely views of the Thames. The hotel has nice grounds perfect for sitting out with a drink on a warm evening. The restaurant has two water features a mill stream and a water wheel. The food was ok it gave the impression of pre prepared... More

Stayed here for 1 night in the suite room overlooking the river. A lovely quiet spot...no probs with noise...can sleep well. Room was spacious..big bathroom..Nicely done. Bedroom was big...as was sitting room..but furnishings were a bit dated...and carpet well worn. Bedding was poor quality. Had dinner too...very average.we had booked an inclusive package....if I hadn't I would have been v... More

Arrived by river for overnight stay on a hot July day. Made my way to the room which was suffocatingly hot with all the windows closed and the towel rail, not adjustable, full on. Requested a fan which we had to run all night to cool the room. There is no air conditioning in the Hotel. We had to leave... More

We stayed one night here and ate breakfast in the restaurant which had an excellent choice of dishes. The hotel is actually on an island and preserves the sight sound and smell of a working water wheel. The room was well provided with toiletries, a flat screen TV, tea tray and a comfortable bed. Just one small thing to suggest as... More

The hotel is in a beautiful building, in a very pretty corner by the river; the Abbey is near by. It is not a luxury hotel but a solid, old style one. The rooms are OK, the beds comfortable and everything works. This is not a design, chic place and it doesn´t pretend to be. The breakfast was generous and... More

The room no 19 was dirty not only on the bedside cabinet shelf but the carpet needed a good hoover with old food on the floor under the TV Desk. The window latch didnt work either. If your looking for good food the choice was poor and when it arrived you wish you had not bothered in the first place.... More

Dear Janet Wilson, I am disappointed to read that you did not enjoy your recent stay in our Hotel. And that you felt unable to communicate these issues to any employee at the time. Should you have done so, I believe we could have rectified any issues that you were experiencing. I note from your comments that you did not... More

We stayed overnight prior to going to a funeral, and having stayed years ago when owned by Forte I had good memories of the hotel and location. Sadly the hotel now needs a good deal of money spent on it - in particular the extremely threadbare carpets in the bedrooms and corridors of the block by the river. A lick... More

The Upper. Reaches is in a beautiful setting on the side of the river and the building with reception in is a lovely old building. The main accommodation block from the outside is made to look more dated than it needs to due to needing a couple of door frames re painting and regularly cleaning and tidying of cobwebs etc.... If you are looking for a five star hotel with swimming pool and gym, please feel free to choose another hotel. But if you want a charming little hotel with a high level of personal service and outstanding breakfast this might be the hotel for you. Breakfast on each morning was a la carte, direct from the kitchen. The room... More

I recently stayed for two nights at this beautifully located hotel, right by the riverside and at the edge of the town. I stayed in a comfortable, first floor room, furnished with double bed, wardrobe, drawers, armchairs and desk. Tea/coffee making facilities, as well as free Wi Fi and flat screen TV were available. The room and furnishings were clean... More
