On the day in question the hotel actually had 2 weddings which had different start times by several hours. The hotel has a ladies and gents toilets and a disabled friendly toilet on the ground floor. We do not have a seperate toilet for children. From time to time guests from one party may get lost and end up in...

Booked into the West Retford for 2 nights with 17 other family members ahead of a family event. Some of us had no problems with our rooms which were clean with hot running water and working heating but a couple of people had no hot water and had real problems with the heating in their room. However the staff were... more

We stayed here for 1 night only , and chose the hotel due to the location close to the railway station . We were prepared for a 3 star hotel , but really we had a great stay , and it was more of a 4 star to us ..All the staff were SO good .We had a great meal... more

Arrived early evening, room cold, turned the radiator on and went the the bar for a meal. Bland, fairly uninspiring offering. On return to the room heating was barely on. The rooms were in a block away from the main building, very dark, not great for a lone female. Woke up cold in the middle of the night and had... more

I was pleasantly surprised given the other reviews, but then some of them are quite old so perhaps a little out of date. I found the rooms to be spotlessly clean and well presented, in fact they looked as if they had been recently refurbished. I didn't eat here (other than breakfast, which was standard hotel fare) although the restaurant... more

Cold, shabby room (scorch marks on table, stink of an old smoking room, faded covers) - but seemed clean. I was put in the building that isn't part of the main hotel - a pet hate of mine as it makes me feel unsafe as a lone lady - no hotel staff present in this building! Don't be fooled by... more

This is a lovely building with nice gardens but the service leaves a lot to be desired. Restaurant food very expensive but very ordinary - staff pleasant but obviously not trained. Bar food terrible! My West Retland salad was described as a tossed salad with tuna and olives but was served with neither tuna or olives. When I informed the... more

I've stayed at the West Retford Hotel four times now. I really enjoyed my stay on the first three occasions, the only fly in the ointment being the poor value for money of the food (poor quality in the case of the bar food, high prices for quite ordinary stuff in the restaurant). Previously I would have rated the hotel... more

Disappointed with the food, blandest pate I've ever eaten. Asked for a room service menu on arrival and it never appeared in 3 days. Morrisons Supermarket close by, just as well. No toilet brush in the room and the maid didn't seem to have one either. Noisy wedding reception on Saturday evening with kids out of control and screaming in... more
