We booked here because we were going to Flashback Festival and needed a place to stay (last time we tried the Clumber Park Hotel and, if you read some of those reviews, you'll see why we didn't return) so being right next to where the late festival shuttle bus stops, this seemed ideal. We were a little early for check-in... More

We stayed for 5 nights. The staff were friendly and very helpful. There are some very olde worlde bits to this hotel, i.e. uneven and creaky floors, quirky corridors and, outside, cobbled street type areas (I love this sort of thing), but the noise of music (from 7 a.m(!)) and chatter from the bar below was quite intrusive. Unfortunately, although... More

This was our second visit to The Lion Hotel. The room was amazing! Extremely clean and modern. The shower was lovely too, lovely hot water and powerful. There was an improvement on the breakfast from last time. Previously there was a buffet breakfast, this time it was ordered and brought to our table, this was a lot better, the food... More

We arrived late on a Friday night, to be greeted by a rather distracted receptionist. When checking in we were not informed of times for breakfast or where the restaurant was. Also the lift was broken which meant hauling our bags up two flights of stairs. Our room was lovely. We had upgraded so there was a bottle of proseco.... More

We have been made very welcome. Nothing is too much trouble and the staff are friendly and helpfull. Breakfast is plentiful, fresh and yummy. Good quality food, a good selection with fresh toast, tea and coffee served at you table by friendly staff. The restaurant is good and although the menu isnt huge, all food is hot, fresh and home... I called in for breakfast even though I had previously had a not so good experience before at The Lion Hotel. I ordered my drinks and food(poached egg on toast), the waiter went away and then immediately came back and informed me I couldn't have the breakfast I had ordered as the chefs were cleaning down the hobs and grill... Superb value. Efficient and friendly staff. Good food and nice comfortable spacious room. Location was perfect as we were breaking up a long journey down south. Would certainly recommend to friends and family.

My partner booked us into this hotel as we were going to watch Status Quo and Toseland at Clumber Park, just down the road. I have to say, we've stayed in Best Western before and when I knew this was where we were going, my heart did sink a little however I cannot fault this wonderful place. The staff were... More
