We booked this hotel for its location near to a sporting event we were involved with. We wanted to be near town, ideally a short walk, and we were not fussed on frills and spills. We got exactly what we wanted at a good price. We were very impressed with our room and had a fantastic nights sleep. The bathroom... More

Centrally located which was our main criteria. We also required a family room as we had the grandson with us. Fantastic breakfast (full english) with cerials and fresh orange juice. The grandson said it was the best toast he had ever had. The staff were very helpful and created a lovely atmosphere. The Hotel is a very old rambling building.... More

Friendly staff but that's all. The bedding was clean but the bed old. hardly any room to get to the shower room which was so tiny it was very awkward to close the door, shower was moldy and soap tray on the shower bar was filthy, sealant around shower was dirty and half perished. Towel rail, shelves and other bathroom... More

Our family stayed at the clifton hotel for a few days before easter. We chose clifton as it was an hours drive to alton towers making it a lot cheaper than the hotels closer to the park. Having never used a family room before I was plesentely surprised at the layout and facilities especially at the price would definely use... More

I booked a family room for a Saturday night, and we arrived at about 5:30. Checking in took place in a back room, and we were shown to our room on the 2nd floor. There are 3 family rooms, all on the 2nd floor. The room was large, with a double and 2 single beds. The double was very comfortable.... More

Booked very last minute few hours before travel . Lovely friendly welcome . Very old fashioned and been a long time since we have stayed in something like this . Reminded me of a sea side B&B. Clean though large bed crisp white linen. Lovely welcome helpful staff . Great breakfast . Must admit if we're doing a cheap hotel... More

Great staff, very pleasant, chatty and helpful. Excellent breakfast sets you up for the day, pity about the tinned tomatoes though I prefer the real thing and adding mushrooms would be a nice touch. The mattress on the bed was too soft for me, felt more like a water bed. The temperature in the hotel was too hot
