We went to a gig at Lowdham Hall and decided to stay at the Old Ship Inn. We have eaten here before and staff, and locals have always been very friendly. The room was large, clean and tastefully decorated. The only "complaint" (and it didn't bother us too much) was the noise/music from the bar. Thought I'd mention it cos... More

We enjoyed an absolutely fantastic meal at the Old Ship yesterday evening. Fresh plaice and a fillet steak were both cooked to perfection. A freshly made pear and apple crumble and custard also delighted! We eat at all sorts of restaurants, but have recently visited the Ship far more often than any other eateries, as it is so good. The... More

Booked Sunday lunch here for five as it was my birthday. We waited 75 mins for the meal to be served, not only poor service but the meal was abominable.I complained and was given a discount the excuse was "new staff". Hence will not be visiting again.

I stayed at the Old Ship for several weeks up until Christmas and I really enjoyed my time there. I spend a lot of time away from home with my job and always try to find somewhere with some atmosphere and I certainly found some here. The landlord and landlady Kerry & Maggie are so welcoming and make you feel... More

The Old Ship Inn has improved very much from a few years ago. I went with a friend for lunch recently and had a lovely tasty meal at a very good price. I like the fact that we had a white tablecloth which makes the place look more professional. I will certainly be going back again soon, hopefully for an... More

This was an excellent meal. Great choice, beautifully and imaginatively cooked, and outstanding value at £14.95 per person for three courses e.g. The breaded scampi and chips had more scampi than chips (a rarity), the butter nut and thyme soup was homemade and served piping hot. The service was very obliging, We had a direct view into the kitchen from... More

What a lovely friendly pub. Well cooked food at an excellent price. My salmon was a generous portion with nice sauce, fresh asparagus lots of freshly cooked vegetables. My liqueur coffee was perfect - with the bonus of a bahlsen choccy biccy!

Organising a group booking for 15 for a family lunch when you don't know the area is always daunting and unfortunately the website doesn't do the pub justice. But the recent reviews were good so I rang and The Old Ship posted me a Christmas menu ( email would have been good) with no problem, which I circulated to the... More

We stayed here from September 2014 through to December 2014. I can honestly say that the food served in the restaurant is on par with the very best in British Pubs throughout the land.. The Hospitality of both Maggie and Kerry the Landlord and lady is without question, fantastic making it not only a hotel but a home as well.... More
