I stayed on 5th May 2013 for my friend's special birthday. Warm welcome, pot of very welcome tea after my drive and light lunch. Room - a single - very clean and good shower. Ample parking. It was a return to an area I knew well years ago and didn't let me down.

I have just returned after spending 3 nights at Forest Lodge on a golf tour with 11 other senior golfers. We were all very happy with the hotel. My room was at the front and did suffer some traffic noise. This could have been reduced had there been double glazing fitted. However the bed was comfortable, bathroom clean with hot... More

Easter Sunday lunch time booking. Nice feel to the building and friendly staff on entering. sat next to fire in the bar area looking at the menu, no specials on a Sunday though. Restaurant was spaced out well and noise levels we low which I like. Food was rather basic with no flair or personality on the plate which was... More

Thanks for this review. In point of fact, there were specials available on the Sunday in question: they were printed on the menu as opposed to being written on the blackboard. We try to offer a mixture of both traditional and more unusual food. Clearly, there is only so much 'flair' that you can introduce into, say, a Sunday roast... More

My mother in law paid for us to stay here on our wedding night on the 5th of April and it was awful. The bridal suite had been specifically booked and it was horrible. Black and grey is not romantic at all and there wasn't even a proper wardrobe..just an old white formica unit. The bathroom was freezing, the bed... More

Firstly, I am sorry that the reviewer had an awful wedding night. However, I find the tone of the review most unfair. In response: 1. The room in question was refurbished last year; the colour scheme is silver, plum and black; the mattress is new; there is a wall-heater in the bathroom. 2. The room does indeed face a minor... More

We really enjoyed our stay on Good Friday, very cute hotel with loads of history. On the Saturday the staff opened the bar just for us as our family came over for a day out in the forest, they were so helpful and lovely and put on coffees for us to have with our homemade birthday cake. Thanks again for... More

We dined here with friends in Feb, and we were greated by a lovely friendly lady with a smile on her face, always starts things off nicely! The service was great, the food was lovely, the only thing I would point out but this might be me being picky is the wine list was very limited and didnt really offer... More

We were staying at Sherwood Pines Forest Park and booked a table for 8 people after reading reviews from others staying at the same location. We were not disappointed. I think it was probably the best roast I've ever had! Beautiful roast beef, mash and roast potatoes, plus loads of veg. The creamed leek was amazing! The staff were very... More

10 members of our family stayed overnight at the end of January to celebrate our son's 40th birthday. The location was superb within walking distance of Sherwood Forest and the hotel totally fitted our requirements:- child friendly, all the rooms beautifully clean and spacious, food delicious and the staff were very accommodating. In all, a great place to stay.

We booked Forest Lodge for three nights to go to a friend’s wedding in Sherwood Forest. We found the hotel to be excellent, the rooms were of adequate size, exceptionally clean (I’m a housekeeper so cleanliness is important!), the staff were really friendly and helpful and the food was amazing. We didn’t have the opportunity to dine in the restaurant... More

Noisy smelly drainage system, the TV signal was not good, every station kept breaking up. The Hotel tried to charge us £25 extra to access our room 2 hours early so we could change our clothes. The Hotel was noisy at night both from passing traffic and other guests. Not impressed at all

Very sorry that the reviewer wasn't impressed. To do something about these issues, it always helps if we are told about them during the stay as opposed to several weeks afterwards (date of stay - 8th September). Our rooms are available from 14.30 onwards. Check-out is by 10.30. If a guest wants to check in very early, we do have... More
