We stayed at Tilldale for one night on the back of earlier reviews and agree wholeheartedly with all previous positive comments. The house is nicely decorated, the rooms are spacious and the food is of a good standard. Unfortunately, our stay in the area was cut short as a result of a heavy fall suffered by one of our party.... more

I would heartily agree with all the other reviews. This was one of the nicest rooms we've had anywhere and the breakfast was particularly good. My only small gripe was that in spite of what it says on the website, cooked breakfast is not available at 07-00. We were walking St Cuthbert's Way amd we would have liked a really... more

At Tilldale House we followed the guidelines set by the English Tourist Board. We do serve light cooked breakfasts from 7am in the morning and the full cooked breakfast menu is available from 8am. Any guests who wish to leave before 7am are given a packed lunch free of charge in place of breakfast not taken. There have been many...

We were doing a tour of the NorthEast & this was our last stop for a couple of nights. The welcome we got from Julia was by far the best we had from any of the places we stayed in. She was really helpful with recommendations for places to eat (and Milan is definitely the best restaurant!) - and also... more

Four of us walking the St Cuthbert's Way from Melrose to Lindisfarne had the great good fortune to book into Tilldale House and thereby indulge in a level of luxury rarely experienced in B&B accommodation. The rooms were spacious, delightfully arranged and with every convenience. The position of Tilldale House on the High Street meant we did not have to... more

What a lovely place to stay. We had the huge ground floor room with street entrance which made coming/going easy. Julia is a great cook as well, with made to order breakfasts that fill you up. Great location. All services(post, library, shops) are an easy walk from the front door. Best stay we had on our entire trip. more

Had a lovely stay at this B&B - the room was large and well-furnished, nice clean bathroom, enormous bed with hundreds of cushions/pillows. The owner is very friendly and helpful. A very comfortable stay and a very reasonable price. Would highly recommend this place and would be very happy to stay again. more

We recently stopped over at Tilldale House for a night, on the way back from a wedding, and were pleased with our warm cosy accommodation. Our room at Tilldale House was warm and spacious, with a superking bed (2 singles joined together) and fluffy thick pile carpet throughout. There was a nice ensuite shower / toilet, with towels and toiletries... more
