We loved The Tankerville Arms, Clean, comfy and friendly. Great breakfasts, evening meal not so good . A great base for travelling to Seahouses where we took the boat to Inner Farne to see the Puffins, nesting Terns with their sweet newly-hatched chicks (top tip: take a hat or hood to wear when on the island as the parent birds... Managed to get a good deal on the nicest room (as was being used as the Honeymoon suite after we had stayed!) Good food, not huge portions but plenty for us. Comfortable bed and clean room if slightly dated styling. V. friendly (and witty) staff especially Teri. Just 20 mins drive from the Holy Island of Lindisfarne which was the... More

We needed a break for one night away from the hustle bustle of our busy lives. The Tankerville Arms greeted us with a friendly welcome. The room ticked all the boxes for us and the evening meal was delicious. Very friendly staff and clean accommodation. We would certainly use this hotel again.

I agree with other reviewers that this hotel is very dated. The room we stayed in was good, but others in our party were given rooms that were not of an acceptable standard. We were disappointed that the bar closed very early on a Saturday evening . Breakfast was very poor and had obviously been reheated. The portions sizes were very... More

We stayed for 2 nights in July. The bedroom we had was very small and very dated with beige 1980's decor. I think that the 1970's clock radio attached to the wall must have been a museum piece and the shower was a mere trickle with no toiletries. Having stayed at 3 different hotels in the week this room was... More

I have just stayed in the Tankerville this weekend as i was in the area for a wedding and i have to say it was truly awful. We had specifically asked for early check in and when we arrived neither of the rooms (we travelled with friends) were ready. Not a good start. The next issue was the drains in... More

Really sorry for your inconvenience, we do try and get staffing levels right, but sometimes we can get it wrong! We have updated a lot of mattresses as a direct result of your feedback, and will be looking into having a later breakfast available, especially on a Sunday. More

Having heard that there is a new chef in our local town we decided to give it a try as we have been before and were not to impressed the last time. Bar busy only 1 cast ale available. We looked at the menu never have I heard of turnip soup ( except on black adder ) and 1of our... More

Wooler is a good base for exploring Northumberland. We stayed for two nights, and visited Alnwick Castle, Lindisfarne and Cragside. The hotel claims that Virginia Woolf stayed there, but one hopes that the decor and food were slightly more refined back then. The staff are friendly enough, but I did not feel they would go the extra mile to make... More

Having just returned from yet another enjoyable break in Northumberland, using the Tankerville Arms as our base, my partner and I have been consistently delighted with the whole package this lovely family run hotel provides. The accomodation is both clean and extremely comfortable with Ann and team providing a truly warm 'Northumberland Welcome'. The quality of service and courteousness from... More

The hotel may be dated and in need of a bit of a face lift but the location is so peaceful and quiet. It was wonderful weather and the birds were singing, staff were wonderful and friendly and so helpful, very, very relaxing. We would definitely recommend this hotel if you want to relax and enjoy the company of your... More
