Adequate rooms, 1980s decor but functional, in a lovely old building, adequate breakfast, service adequate, dinner quite good (good quality meat, nice puddings, but let down by the over-cooked veg). But it could have been so much better with a bit of attention to detail. Such as: tiled floor in the bathroom, 2 small tiles loose. One of the 3... More

What a fab place! A great combination of caring staff, good food and comfortable rooms. Despite it being peak holiday season they coped well. the food was local and freshly cooked. You can be sure of a warm welcome here. There is nothing that is too mush trouble.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at the "Tanky" and once again it was excellent. From breakfast to dinner, the choice and quality of the food was great. Service from all of the staff once again was A1. Nothing was any trouble for them. Many, many thanks to Duncan,Terry,Janet,Elaine, Jim and all the rest of the staff who... More

We stopped for a break and a bite on the way North. Friendly staff, delicious food carefully made, beautiful tranquil garden to sit in, very reasonable price. I would stay at this hotel, it feels very relaxed.

After travelling for an hour and a half we were looking for a toilet-break - and a coffee. And we found both at the Tankerville: staff we're friendly and welcoming and, the coffee? WOW - brilliant, and just £3.50 for the coffee AND a superb home-made (huge) cake.

Stayed last night at this hotel . I dislike to give negative reviews but was very dissappointed with the standard of this hotel .I found the grounds spacious and well maintained with a large car park to rear. The room didn't offer value for money as the condition was well below what I would expect for £100 a night .the... More

We had a three night stay with dinner on the first night, steak done to perfection and gammon lovely and not too salty. Full Northumberland breakfast was good as were the Craster kippers. Room was small but adequate and spotlessly clean.(we were told that the larger rooms were being refurbished while we were there) (redecoration and new carpets). The gentleman... More

really enjoye our stay spent 6 nights at this peaceful hotel, food not to bad, good choice of food at breakfast but found better evening meals for same price elsewhere. Kept a good pint but no local northumbrian ales.service was good all staff friendly and welcoming. The older style of the hotel suited us as we are not city slickers.... More

Excellent hotel for work. Friendly, welcoming staff. Clean, well equipped rooms. Good food and drink. Perfect if you're looking for somewhere to properly unwind. The tankerville is an excellent model for the way a hotel should be run
