Having known this place some 40 years ago, when it was a very different set-up, it was useful to find that the place now had the essentials for a touring holiday.1: Good Beds, 2: Good Breakfast, 3: Good Evening Meal. Other things can help to make it even better and the Ryecroft did try to supply them. The Bedroom for... more

My Wife and I stayed yet again at the Ryecroft in Dec/Jan.2009. Our stay was, once again tremendous !!! Improvements in the hotel are ongoing, thanks to owner's Clive and Linda. Norma, who is in charge of Reception etc, could'nt do enough for us. She is a wee gem. When we arrived, we were treated as one of the family.... more

We didn't even make our reservation through the attitude of the staff and the mistakes made by the hotel. As I booked it on line my credit card and personnel detail were past to the hotel which I expected. It was here the problem started!! A member of staff then gave all my details out to a stranger that rang... more

Its some time since I've stayed at a less accommodating hotel than the Ryecroft. We were met at 9.05 on Saturday morning by the hotel manager with a curt 'breakfast has finished', followed at 10.50 on Sunday by his knocking on every door and asking loudly 'are you ready to leave yet?'. The curtains in the rooms are so thin... more

Terrifyingly dated decor in the bedroom, a room also featuring the world's oldest and also smallest double bed.. A shower so feeble we'd have more chance of getting a wash had we just opened the windows and hoped for rain.. The tiny tv was welded to the wall, and only received four channels.. all of varying degress of static..Even the... more

Ryecroft Hotel Wooler Aug 2006 We enjoyed our stay at the Ryecroft. The staff were friendly and helpful. Food was excellant and served in lovely surroundings. The large bar was well stocked and a pleasent place to spend a evening. The conservatory was a big plus. The bedroom was very comfortable and the room clean. The only downside we could... more
