After our drive from Inverness was looking forward to a warm welcome bath good food and a good nights sleep. Our welcome was far from welcoming, as never been in this pub before walked in very pleased to have arrived and was welcomed I think by Ann who told me very bluntly that the reception area was at the back... Just had a two night stay at the black bull wooler.we stayed in the hideaway lodge which was very nice and clean.the master bedroom was really nice , the sofa bed in the living room was just acceptable for a two night stay for two teenage kids more suitable for younger children if staying longer. However it was a hotel... More

We stayed for 2 nights in August. All we need from a hotel when we go walking is to come back to a comfy bed, clean room and a hot bath. The Black Bull delivered all 3 and then some. We were made very welcome at check in. Our room was lovely and bright and clean. We ate in Milans,... More

Stayed for two nights in July 2014. Very good value for money. Rooms are a little tired but overall OK. Bar could be a little more traditional, but friendly enough. Car parking OK, though road into the car park is a little rough and it is a tight turn from the main road. The adjoining Italian restaurant is very nice,... More

the Black Bull happily catered for my gluten free diet - checking with me what I would like and could have and had provided gluten free bread (laid out in the bag to avoid contamination). The breakfast was excellent and our waitress really helpful and lovely, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was really tasty and plenty of it... More

Was looking forward to staying here after a long day on the St Cuthbert's Way but found it a bit disappointing. Though the welcome was warm enough, the rooms were quite tired and decorated in a dull mushroom colour. The sink and toilet in my bathroom were both loose and the shower in my companion's room did not work at... More

We stayed for two nights as a base for exploring the area. It was only booked a couple of days before and it was the last available room. We ended up in a room at the front with a four poster bed in a large room. Overall, it could do with a bit of attention and upgrading without losing the... More

Stayed four nights on bed and breakfast basis whilst visiting local sights (all within a reasonable driving time/distance) All the staff most welcoming and hospitable, the food at breakfast offers a very good choice as does the evening menu. Had dinner in the adjoining Italian restaurant where again the food was plentiful and tasty. Variety of beers in the bar... More

This Inn has a nice typical English atmosphere about it. We slept in small, well appointed and beautifull decorated rooms. The breakfast was very well done, had a great packed lunch. The Inn is located in the middle of Wooler, loved the whole package.

We were looking for a base for 2 couples whilst visiting Wooler for a friend's 21st birthday party. It was in the right price range & offered us clean& comfortable rooms. The staff were all very friendly & there was a good choice for breakfast. A very enjoyable stay & we would definitely stay again!
