I was working nearby and asked my client if there was anywhere nearby I could get lunch. My wife was with me(school teacher on holiday and fancied a run out). The pheasant inn was recommended. We duly called in. A very traditional inn which retains all of the character you would expect. Service with a smile as we sat down... More

Stayed here for a night recently & had excellent food. The choice was overwhelming for both dinner & breakfast. I could have eaten the whole menu!! Only downside was no chips, but potatoes available. Overheard several people ask for chips with their steak. Pleasant staff, comfy bed. Typical British summer weather - unfortunately wet, as it is 30+ years since... More

Very pleasant atmosphere. Good choice of real ales. Friendly staff serving a well portioned lunch... At last somewhere that serves new potatoes over chips... Very tasty meal! Loved the local cheeses in the ploughman's lunch! We will return!

Lovely 1 night stay at this Inn, cosy environment, friendly staff and excellent food. Room lovely & clean and will recommend this place to anyone. My wife and I will be back in the near future. Great location for Kielder. A little gem.

We booked to go here on a Saturday night whilst staying near Kielder as we knew the weather was going to be bad. This pub was the perfect shelter on a miserable night. The pub is traditionally decorated and feels very cosy as it is split into different sections. All food ordered was really well presented and extremely tastey. The... More

We chose The Pheasant based on the good reviews and proximity to Keidler observatory (20 minute drive away). Good b&b with excellent food - the chicken and ham pie was homemade and was the tastiest I've had and the breakfast plentiful. Lovely soft linen and beautiful views of the countryside. Would stay again!

Many thanks for leaving your review. I always thought a good Sunday Lunch was important for a country pub and we have always worked hard at this. Despite the cost I could never serve anything but Roast Sirloin and our slow cooked Northumbrian Lamb is our signature dish. Continuity is also important so we need to be as good as... More

Wow! I wish I could eat here every day. We had a 90 minute window before visiting the observatory and had a relaxing 3 course meal. The antipasto starter was a nice sharer for 3 and didn't stuff us. But moving on to the main course was when it really got good. The citrus and rosemary encrusted belly pork was... More

We had been 'warned off' this pub as the locals consider it a bit 'above itself'. Turned up just after 2:30 - we didn't expect (or want) a lunchtime snack/meal but were able to have a couple of really nice pints before returning to our nearby holiday cottage. Shame you've lost the vote of the locals - surely you can... More

Many thanks for taking time to leave your review. I am delighted you chose to ignore the advice of the "Locals " or at least the ones who don't drink here and ventured over for some good beer. If not serving chips qualifies us as getting above ourselves then so be it. But we are not in the least bit... More
