Used the Pheasant Inn as our base when we visited the Keilder Observatory. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the owner offered his local knowledge, which helped us. The food was wonderful, and the room was impressive as well. Would highly recommend if you are in the area, and we'll be back ourselves in August.

friendly staff, decent sized rooms, good food, lots of choice for breakfast, enjoyed our break. A lovely part of the world to visit, last time we visited was when Kielder Res was being built. The dog also enjoyed her visit.

We live in the lovely Scottish Border town of Kelso and just occasionally we take the short drive (just over an hour) to Stannersburn and we enjoy a delicious meal at the Pheasant Inn in the company of the Kershaws and their friendly team. We have now stayed at this lovely place and it is just "very special" in every... More

I booked this back in January when I booked a trip to the observatory as part of my hubby’;s birthday experiences. I’m glad I did as I heard they were fully booked since March! We arrived after 6pm and were shown to room 8 on the ground floor, which I guess is a garden room. I was very impressed. We... More

we love this place we have just returned from yet another lovely stay we just wish it could be a few nights rather than one but that's just down to our circumstances. The room is cosy and extremely clean and the evening meal is always delicious and the breakfast is lovely fresh local produce and plenty of it. Always happy... More

We are reasonably seasoned travelers have stayed in most type of hotel accommodation in many places, these days we prefer to stay in small hotel / Inns which has the personal touch with a nice cheery ambiance. So how does the Pheasant perform. We arrived mid afternoon to find the inn closed but entered into the bar where we were... More

When we first arrived here I was disappointed with the room. As mentioned in other reviews they are quite basic and I do think are a bit overpriced. That is the only negative though. Beds are really comfortable and the rooms are very clean. What really made the stay though was the pub and the staff. You could not get... More

Thank you for taking time to leave your review. I am delighted you enjoyed your stay . I do think many readers looking at your headline could easily be mislead as I truly don't think we could be described as basic . Our rooms are spotless light and airy without being cluttered, we are rated as a "four star Inn... More

On arrival around 4.30 on a Sunday afternoon we were warmly welcomed by the staff. Our room was so very comfortable and spotlessly clean, and filled with a great selection of teas , coffee and biscuits. We wandered down later for a few drinks and the most delicious dinner. The menu had a huge selection , very hard to decide... More

We had a lovely stay here (our second visit) and have nothing but praise for the place overall but there was a major negative which I feel is worth a mention. We arrived after a 5 hour car journey at 5pm and asked for our name/details etc. to fill out the necessary paperwork. We were then told the bar opened... More

Thanks for taking time to leave review, I am delighted you enjoyed your stay and a little disappointed that you didn't think we gave you a friendly welcome as I genuinely feel this is one of our best attributes. I take your point and we will discuss this. Regarding the bar we will always serve a guest during the afternoon... More

We always stay in a log cabin at Leaplish for the 5 days which includes my birthday - we have done so for the past 6 years. On the evening itself we (me, borher and husband) always go to the Pheasant. This year, as ever, was a delight. The place has a real pub atmosphere but the food is so... More
