My wife and I enjoyed a stop-over recently at the delightful Ship inn on Delightful Holy Island. There is a certain charm about island life, especially when you are cut off twice daily by prevailing tides. Adds mystique and intrigue to any stay, I think. This 200 (plus) year old inn has plenty of atmosphere and charm. Low ceilings. Dark... More

We enjoyed a lovely sunny day on Holy Island and after several hours of walking, we had built up a thirst and a hearty appetite. The Ship Inn was directly in our path and lunch beckoned. The pub has a couple of dining areas inside and a beer garden to the rear. Needing to slake our thirst, we ordered drinks.... More

We stayed for two nights and had a very enjoyable stay. All the staff were most welcoming and the Ship was very cosy. We found our room to be very comfortable and spotless. The bathrobes was a nice addition and all linen was of good quality. We ate in the restaurant both evenings and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The fish... More

Situated on Holy Island, it only has four bedrooms. All with en suite. Room 3 is the best. Nice and quiet once the day trippers have left the island. Had a lovely meal. The menu is a little limited, but delicious. Try the crab and prawn salad for starters, almost a main course. Breakfast was equally delicious with full English,... More

The wife and I spent two lovely nights here, Holy island is a great place to be when all the day visitors have departed because the tide has come in, tranquil and beautiful. On arriving the owner reserved a parking place for us at the front of the inn, he was very friendly and chatty for the whole of our... More

I have used this place before for lunch but it seems its under new management. Ordered a pint of John Smiths beer and a packet of crisps and was told the price was £4.20 enquired as to the price of the pint was told it was £3.20 (fair but still high) so the packet of crisps was being offered at... Having visited Holy Island numerous times we thought we would try The Ship inn for a spot of lunch, we were greeted at the bar by a man who seemed to have lost his smile? He was blunt to the point of rude, and certainly lacking customer service. I ordered a Tuna sandwhich, it was dreadful, I couldn't eat it,... More
