This is our second visit with our dog to the Tankerville Arms. We booked the suite which is furnished and equipped to a standard way above most country hostelries and indeed many "top hotels".Little touches like the hand wrapped soaps in the bathroom do not go unnoticed. George and Mary the owners are superb hosts and make one so welcome.Breakfast... More

We booked a 3 night say at the Tankerville Arms in Eglingham near Alnwick Northumberland. We had a warm welcome by George & Mary the owners. We booked the suite, which was warm and homely. Everything about this stay hit our expectations. The food was excellent and cooked to the highest standards. All the staff are very helpful and always... More

I was looking for somewhere to stay for my German Shorthaired Pointer and I who were attending gundog training near Alnwick. Although the Tankerville Arms wasn't the cheapest option, the reviews meant it really appealed to me and I made the right choice - I would love to return and take my husband. The pub is located right in the... More

The first time we stayed in the Gold room, it was decorated to a very high standard, the bathroom was expensively done and the complimentary toiletries were high quality. the second time we stayed we booked the suite, it was perfect. very comfortable and tastefully decorated to a very high standard. Just returned from a two night stay in the French room. It is beautifully decorated to the highest standards and extremely comfortable. Don't be put off by the bathroom being across the corridor as there are bathrobes provided, and the bathroom itself is very swish with a fine selection of toiletries. We ate in the restaurant both nights and had... More

A spring break with a difference - it was still the depths of winter on March 31st! Charming location and a lovely room (The Gold Room) over the pub. The location, being only 10 minutes from Alnwick and only 10 minutes off the A1, is great and less than 2 hours' drive from Edinburgh. The pub itself is quaint and... More

If you’re visiting Alnwick or the surrounding area consider driving a little further to Eglingham for lunch and you won't be disappointed if you stop at this lovely welcoming pub. Great menu, delightful hosts (Mary and George) and great service. The only thing to beat dropping in for lunch would be an overnight stay and, after sampling the breakfast menu, spending... More

We stayed here one night and were impressed by everything about it. It really is a very superior B&B. Everyone made us feel very welcome and the bedroom was lovely. It was the Chef's night off, however, George himself cooked us a great meal. It is definitely one of the best places we have ever stayed.

The Tankerville Arms' website says "BAR - RESTAURANT - BED AND BREAKFAST", but this is no ordinary B & B; indeed it is in a class of its own. How many B & B's provide huge white thick top-quality bath sheets and hand towels and change them daily? And how many supply bath robes and containers of quality toiletries plus... More
