What a gem we found here walking St. Oswald's Way. Sally greeted us like long lost friends and the cup of tea and lemon drizzle cake was to die for, we sat in the garden and enjoyed the sunshine after walking from Bamburgh. The rooms were lovely and comfortable with lots of extras including homemade shortbread, chocolate and fruit. Sally... More

We found Stonecroft five years ago and have been back each year since. We are always met by. Sally's warm northern hospitality and once inside there is always the home made lemon drizzle cake. The accommodation is beautifully furnished and comfortable - everything has been thought of . The breakfast is superb, my wife loves the home smoked trout! Many... More

We first came across Stonecroft by chance 12 years ago and have returned every year at least once. It is ideally situated, being a stone's throw from the dramatic and historic coast of this magnificently un-commercialised county. Sally has the incredible knack of making her guests feel instantly relaxed and cared for, whilst at the same time running the guesthouse... More

...and that's just Sally! (Ian's more of a rough diamond). Together, they offer an outstanding level of hospitality, comfort and care. Generous, beautifully furnished and comfortable rooms, lavish hospitality (it's worth staying just to sample Sally's lemon-drizzle cake, home-made shortbread and jams) and magnificent breakfasts using locally-sourced ingredients are just part of the appeal. The location, just a short walk... More

Sally has thought of everything - even the slippers and bathrobes that you get in 5 star hotels but also tiny everyday items that you might have forgotten. The home made food is superb and the breakfast menu was out of this world. The perfect host!
