Just returned from a short break at this hotel, excellent value for money, lovely food, generous portions, friendly and helpful staff. We were a party of six, three couples, family and friends who all enjoyed their stay. Perfectly situated for exploring this beautiful area. We will be back for another relaxing break.

We were staying in Craster and went to the Cottage Inn for a evening meal. The meal took a very long time to appear, although we were warned almost half an hour after ordering that there was a problem in the kitchen. The food was nothing to write home about, just a less than average pub meal. When we were... More

Thank you for your comments. Unfortunately, our chef collapsed and was taken to hospital mid-service which delayed orders. Please accept our apologies for the offensive notice, this was removed as soon as management became aware of it. This in no way reflected the opinion of the establishment or staff. We can only assume this was placed in the bar by... More

We were booked in to the Cottage Inn while walking St Oswald's Way recently, and it was the definite low point of an otherwise outstanding trip. Compared to everywhere else we stayed, the welcome was charmless, and the room shoddy - cracks in the bath, toilet roll holder unrepaired, tired decor. The inn is surrounded by trees, which make the... More

We stayed when walking the St.Oswald's Way. The Cottage Inn was a short detour off the trail. The property is adjacent to woodland. The food wa top dollar, I had the poacher's pot which I enjoyed very much. It was a Saturday when we visited and there was a live band for entertainment. It is a very good placeto stay... More

Whilst staying in Dunstan Village we decided to dine here as it was within walking distance from the holiday house. We booked a table for 7 plus a dog, and we were sat in the conservatory. It was so lovely, airy, light and comfortable. The food was absolutely delicious!! Collectively we ordered 2 seafood platters, a gammon steak, lamb's liver,... More

Our third time at this place and once again we were not disappointed. The food as always was plentiful and so tasty. We were allowed to sit in the lovely conservatory and take our dog in with us. We had puddings too and they were fantastic. Prices have gone up a bit since our last visit but we still think... More

Holy Island is further than we thought to drive, and the causeway opening times meant that we had to be there early in the morning. Staying at The Cottage Inn near Craster was a last-minute decision we did not regret. The atmosphere was great, the evening dinner very tasty and we sat in the snug for the rest of the... More

This is the second time we have been to this restuarant and it is very good. The food is very fresh, the portions are large and very tasty. The chips are lovely and think they are twice cooked. There is a lot of outside space and is dog and child friendly. Its a lovely trip out in the car and handy... More

We were booked on this hotel by a company organising our long distance walk in the North East. Very welcoming, pleasant room with views of the garden, good fish meal. Bar was pleasant and friendly. Highly recommended!

Came across this Inn whilst looking for a place to have dinner. Large dining room, separate bar, plenty of outside space and very secluded in woodland. Food was excellent - generous portions and well presented. Desserts in particular were superb. Our waiter warmed up during the evening and we left feeling very contented.
