we booked a four night stay and arrived at the worse time possible for the staff, a busy Sunday lunch time. But the gentleman greeted us warmly and took the time to show us around, the Bar, Bistro, library and our room. Not many people would have done that at such a busy time. The room "Revenage" (named after one... More

Dreadnought was the name of the deluxe bedroom. At the very top of the hotel up 4 flights of stairs. No windows just skylights so very warm and no view. Traffic noise also as it is at the front of the hotel. VERY surprised that no other review mentions the noise from the Church clock opposite which chimes on the... More

We stayed here for 3 nights and if I'd known what a gem it is we would have stayed longer. The hotel is comfortable, the staff are friendly and cannot do enough for you. The evening menu was wonderful and the breakfast delicious. Try the kippers!! I could not fault anything about this hotel. Many Thanks

Staying in the Borders for the weekend, we spent time on both sides and decided to book dinner in the hotel bar for more informal dining rather than the main restaurant. Despite being Saturday evening, it was not particularly busy but there was a nice atmosphere as more people arrived to fill a few more tables and there was a... More

What a fantastic place, friendly welcoming staff who work hard to please, especially Nicki, great food. A very comfortable bed and room. Lovely surroundings perfectly placed to see this beautiful countryside 30 minutes from the cost and Holy Island. Would definitely stay again.

Having read the positive reviews on TripAdvisor and the hotel's own website claim to be dog friendly, we looked forward to celebrating my birthday at the Collingwood Arms. However, on arrival, the barman said we could only sit in the corridor with our well behaved dog. When I reminded him that the website said dogs were allowed in the bar... More

We visited The Collingwood on the 6th April for my Mum's birthday as it was a big birthday we wanted it to be special and we weren't disappointed. It was a lovely sunny day and we were offered to dine alfresco if we wished but we opted for indoors. I started my meal with the Prawn & Crayfish Tian and... More

We venture north to Scotland by car at least a couple of times each year and always try to fit in an overnight stop at this "borders gem". It was refurbished by the present owners nearly 10 years ago to a high standard and many original touches. Our room "Revenge" faced to main road but as traffic dies from about... More

We are a group of 6 cyclists who were on a short touring holiday. We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. Everything was just terrific from a secure place to leave our bikes, a warm inviting lounge with log fire, lovely comfortable rooms and wonderful food. All the staff were really friendly, efficient and very welcoming. We couldn't have picked... More
