The Collingwood Arms is a beautiful, historic small hotel right on the border of England and Scotland, close to the River Tweed. We enjoyed our weekend (at a very competitive winter special rate). We had a very nice greeting by the receptionist despite the hotel being very busy, and she set the tone for all the staff we met at... More

3 night stay New Year 2016 - we have stayed in many 5* hotels around the world, however, I absolutely loved this hotel and would rate it higher than some major places both in UK and beyond. It is was a small hotel, just near the River Tweed but the decor was gorgeous and modern and the friendly welcome (a... More

This is our second visit. And just as wonderful as the first. The staff are all so very welcoming and can not do enough to please. The rooms as wonderful and can recommend both Mars and Royal Standard as rooms to stay in. The Royal Standard in particular is beautiful with great views a huge bed, wonderful bathroom and the... Great meal on New Years Day, The staff were amazing, they helped entertain our 1 year old daughter and the food was beautiful. I had the venison Wellington and it was cooked to perfection. I only had the 1 course but friends desserts looked great as well. I had an old fashioned cocktail and it was top notch We will... More

Have been in for lunch on 2 separate occasions. Enjoyed very much. Tasty. Good choice on menu if you like fish which I do. Staff friendly and attentive. Didn't book a table but that was not a problem.

Very comfortable rooms. Understated, tasteful decor, with quality bed linen and I think extra comfy beds. I've stayed here a few times and always slept extremely well. The bar staff are great and good choices of drinks. Dinner in the bistro was all good. I think the breakfast is excellent. The only thing I would change is the toast for... More

Sorry to say we went for a meal here recently. Had to wait 45minutes for our main course to be told the chief was not happy with the rice for my wife's main. No apologises where made. Unfortunately the substitute was chips which didn't go well. Hopefully it was a one off. Looks a lovely hotel

Called in on our way south. We ate in the Bistro which was full of the local great and good. At least one peer of the realm was having lunch. We had Green pea and ham soup. Haggis fritters with mustard dressing. Followed by sponge with homemade icre cream and Bakwell tart and clotted cream. We. Had a wine and... More

We returned for a two night break with a group of friends. We were made to feel very welcome. Our pre-booked suite was very warm. The shower was great and a pleasure to get dry with top quality towels. We had two dinners, two breakfasts and a Sunday lunch. This year both the food and service had deteriorated. The restaurant... Very comfortable large room. Recommend guests book a table in the restaurant when booking a room as we ended up in the bistro area which was ok but we ended up eating very late. Bar area is too small to accommodate restaurant diners, hotel guests and the very rowdy locals that monopolise the bar and make it difficult to get... More
