My wife and I booked in at the last minute as we wanted a stop off on route to Scotland to visit our daughter. We stayed for one night. The bedroom was grand, spacious with high ceiling ,period fire surround and a huge fairy tale bed made with fresh crisp linen. The breakfast was delicious, tasty and locally sourced. White... More

Many thanks to Ruth & Maurice for making our stay at The Old Vicarage such a pleasant one. We stayed 5 nights in July and can vouch that it is the epitome of guest houses. Our room (no 8) was large and very comfortable, the bathroom was ultra spacious and we even had our own little roof terrace with a... More

We stayed here for a couple of days in June and wished that we’d been able to stay longer. It’s a haven of peace and tranquillity with the town centre merely a short walk away. Our room was immaculate, the hospitality superb and the food (locally-sourced) was splendid. Our only regret was that work beckoned and we had to leave;... More

We spent four nights at the Old Vicarage using two rooms - a Twin and a Double. Lovely big rooms which were spotlessly clean and it was incredibly quiet & peaceful. We can only really reiterate what others reviewers have said - lovely accommodation and delicious food. We had Meat, Fish & Cheese Platters on our 1st evening which you... More

I enjoyed a 7 night stay with my partner in May and another 3 night stay in June with my sister. The accommodation is first class - crisp, clean sheets and towels, a good ensuite, nice views, ample storage space for our extended stay. The breakfasts were a gourmet delight and we sampled them all. It is a quiet location... More

Many thanks Karen for your 1st class review of your '1st class' stay here at The Old Vicarage. It is so nice to welcome back, to lovely Berwick, guests who have known the area from childhood. We are glad that you stayed long enough to sample many of our breakfast treats and thank you so much for your 'gourmet delight'... More

Ruth & Maurice were the perfect hosts. Very knowledgeable about the surrounding areas . Our room was spacious and very clean. Crisp white bedding. The shower was clean and had a good shower. on arrival. Ruth left us some home made cake, and made us feel welcome. I can recommend the eggs benedict, which was the best ever. The fruit... More

Thank you Maurice and Ruth for your warm welcome. It was the perfect place for us to stay. Everything was just right! The breakfasts are absolutely delicious and our bedroom was spacious and comfortable. A real "home from home". We will definitely be back the next time we are in Berwick.

Hi Margaret - it is so lovely to receive such positive comments from you about how much you enjoyed our food. Living in France as you do we take that as a great compliment: as we also do your view that 'everything was just right'. Thank you. See you on your next visit back to Berwick - Ruth and Maurice More

Ruth & Maurice have perfected the B&B business model. Place, room, food & service exceeded all expectations. You must try the Vicar's Porridge with Whisky & the Egg Benedict . Suggest the Hotel Inspector makes a visit - to pick up a few tips on how it should be done!

A superb place to stay. A gem. We were warmly greeted and made to feel at home by Ruth. Our room, downstairs No2, was lovely with everything you could need. Great choice of tea and coffee. Body shop products and huge fluffy towels in the bathroom. The most comfy bed with lovely crisp, clean bedding. Ruth gave us some excellent... More
