Hotel rooms are clean and spacious, the staff are very friendly and helpful. the food is very well prepared and presnted, delicious My only suggestion would be a larger choice on the evening meal menu. We had two great days stay there, close too lots of tourist attractions. more

We arrived late afternoon and were given room 3 which we found comfortable and clean. The staff we encountered were helpful and pleasant, especially the diningroom staff. I will certainly stay here again when we next visit the area which is perfect for sightseeing. Well done to the staff and the Manager. more

Went up for a wedding booked for two nights, requested ground or lower floor room due to my friends mobility problems connected with stairs. Upon arriving was given the keys to a room at the top of a very steep narrow staircase. I requesed another room which we had to take as there were none (apparently) on the ground floor.... more

Set in an attractive location. Access on/off the A1 might be a problem at times. Traditional old house type of hotel. Very good, friendly and helpful staff. Food good. more

The room was very small, the bathroom didn't feel as clean as it might, and the staff didn't feel that interested in providing a high level of service. more

This hotel was at one time someone's elegant mansion house with lovely grounds. Still some lovely features, but decoration and uphostery somewhat tired . Very efficiently run, good helful staff ,and particular credit should be given to the Manager, Ian Catterall. The dinner was very good as was the breakfast. more

Booked with Late Rooms and got a good rate at £65 a night bed & breakfast. First impressions on driving up to hotel, grounds lovely. Peaceful setting.
