Ok, the decor is an odd mix of dated and quirky and the music is a throwback to 1970s hippy heyday at times but we really enjoyed the experience. The two brothers are a different mix of personalities but the food was great and they couldn't have been more helpful. Rooms were clean and everything there. The wine chillers were... More

Stayed for 3 nights on the last leg of our Honeymoon. The hotel is a country house set in 15 acres of grounds. Although we didn't eat there in the evening, the food looked fantastic and everyone we spoke to raved about it. The breakfast was fantastic, especially the locally caught and smoked Kippers. Very dog friendly and the staff... More

Stayed here for 3 nights in room 11. Although the room was quite small it was sufficient. The furniture and decor were dated and needs upgrading. It had the smallest TV I've ever seen in a hotel room though. It was very clean and the bathroom was fine The location is lovely and has beautiful grounds and a great coastal... More

Firstly, let us deal with the negatives. Bathroom need updating and maybe some night staff would be useful. That is all! Now for the many positives! lovely location just of the A1 and within sight of the border. Peaceful and relaxing. Super friendly and helpful staff/owner.Gardens will be superb! Food. Excellent! Most of my reviews revolve around the quality of... More

Lovely old house in great position in nice grounds. Owners and staff went out of their way to assist and were very friendly and welcoming. Room was great and faultless.....the shower over our corner bath was brilliant. Food was very good and a nice bar area and lounge. Would disagree about remarks suggesting the place needs updating...........décor and furnishings fit... More

We have just returned from two nights at this hotel. I was a bit concerned having read some of the reviews but we have had a great time. Yes the decor is tired and a bit dated but very comfortable. Slept very well both nights. The staff were both helpful and very pleasant and the food excellent. We ate breakfast... More

I booked a 2 night stay by phone with David who very friendly and helpful. However the email confirmation was incorrect and it took 2 more phone calls to get it amended. The actual booking was correct but I wanted the correct reservation shown in the email just in case there was a problem when we arrived. I also booked... More

We have recently hired the Border Function Suite to hold our Sixth Form Leaver’s Prom and as the majority of other reviews are with reference to staying in the hotel I thought that I would highlight Marshall Meadows’ other strengths. With friendly staff and beautiful scenery if you’re looking for somewhere to hold your next big event I would highly... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Marshall Meadows is an authentic Georgian, 3 star country house Hotel, standing in around 15 acres of peaceful grounds with sea views. It is uniquely situated just outside the historic town of Berwick-Upon-Tweed only a stone's throw away from the A1 crossing point of the Scottish Border. It is, therefore, both the first and last hotel in England depending upon one's point of view. The hotel is believed to date from the mid 18th century and provides the perfect setting for a relaxing break, discovering the attractions of border country or for the more adventurous numerous coastal and inland walks and cycle routes, great golf courses and fishing on the river Tweed. The hotel comprise 19 letting rooms, in addition to a main bar, residents' lounge, restaurant, large function area and music room, conservatory and terrace overlooking a large well manicured front lawn. Entrance to the grounds is via a tree-lined driveway flanking a wooded stream. The rear of the hotel overlooks a farmyard, paddock and walled garden. The location allows easy access to the main town, Northumberland Coastal attractions such as Holy Island and Alnwick Castle, National Parkland and the Scottish Border Regions. ... more   less
