Good points - lovely staff, quirky interior which has many extras and homely touches, comfortable and clean, large TV with DVD player with plenty of books and DVDs around - all much appreciated. Very well located in centre of Berwich. Great walking in the cheviots and excellent beaches nearby. Bad points - the owner. We actually wondered if we had... more

We have just returned from a weekend at the Sallyport on a DBB basis. We were rather anxious about the negative reports we have seen on TripAdvisor however we need not have worried as the Service, Meals and features of the hotel were excellent. We spoke with the staff and it would appear that there is some local objection to... more

Having started my journey North to Scotland at some unearthly hour and still not had any breakfast, I detoured off the A1into Berwick to see what I could find. A quick chat to the local newsagent for advice put me in touch with The Liquid Lounge, the name of the lounge bar of 1 Sallyport, a boutique hotel slap bang... more

My other-half booked a night here as a surprise 'treat' on our way home from a holiday. The location is good, being near the Quay and town walls and a short walk into town - but that is about all on the plus side. This establishment calls itself 'luxury accommodation' which I think is a little far-fetched to say the... more

We booked for a one night stay in this well reviewed but pricey estabishment. Sadly, 8 days before our scheduled stay ,a family member died; the funeral took place on the very day of our planned stay, 400 miles south. We tried to cancel but were told that the full amount had been taken from our credit card at the... more

My wife and I stayed at No1 Sallyport for a couple of days in October with our 3 month old son. We had a great time, the room was very luxurious and the staff extremely pleasant and helpful. Great location in the town centre and easy parking nearby. The food in the restaurant was very good and the service 2nd... more

We paid in advance for a two-day luxury break after consulting the website. First impressions - a reasonably stylish small hotel. The reality - vastly different! Emerging from the shower in the morning - the ceiling collapsed narrowly missing my wife and I. The sole member of staff on the premises was extremely helpful. If only the owner had been... more

I wish I had seen this site before staying at the Sallyport because we have experienced the same unfortunate mis-haps of other guests. The hotel is over-priced, certainly not child-friendly and the owner is patronising. Paying £140 per night, in advance, having to take your shoes off to go to your room, which is in the attic with a very... more

We should have been told this before.Had to carry all luggage up four flights of stairs. No room phone, hair dryer, iron, iron board, dressing table/chair, old... more

I have read all the possitive and negative reviews. Nobody has mentioned the agressive dog that was there when we stayed. It seems to spend most of its time in the kitchen. The establishment advertise that dogs are welcome! The dog in the kitchen is not very hygenic or welcoming. more
