This excellent B&B was our base for a week as we explored the surrounding area, and it is one of the nicest that we have stayed in. Sandra and Ian are excellent hosts and, as locals, are able to help out with good places to visit if required. The room was spacious and very clean and the tasty breakfasts set... More

Lovely experience all round. Spacious rooms, great breakfasts and very friendly hosts. Highly recommended. Located centrally in Berwick-upon-Tweed, near the Town Hall, ramparts and wall. Georgian period town house built by a sea captain, hence the name.

We stayed in Berwick on our way home after finishing the Southern Upland Way. The Anchorage was a real gem. The owners are welcoming and helpful and the house itself has been beautifully restored. Our room was at the top of the lovely staircase and was quiet, bright and airy, with the original Georgian shutters still in operation. After the... More

Sue and I came up to visit our friend Alan's grave in Chirnside and stayed at the Anchorage on Thursday 28th May 2015. The hosts Ian and his wife Sandra were lovely people who were warm and friendly. Their approach and friendliness to their guests is excellent and the full English breakfast that I had the following morning was far... More

Although we arrived very late on our bikes due to very bad weather we were welcomed by a very friendy and understanding couple. Our bikes were placed in a safe and secure dry area indoors and we were shown to a very tasteful and luxurious room. A wonderful full English set us on our way and if ever in the... More

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights in this charming guest house, while we walked part of the Northumberland coastal trail. The hosts Sandra and Ian were very welcoming and friendly, the room was very clean and well appointed, and the king-size double bed extremely comfortable. There was a wide choice of tasty food at breakfast, much of which... More

This guest house is perfectly placed for all of the amenities of Berwick. Easy walk into the centre although in a very quiet part of town. This house is full of history which the lovely owners Sandra and Ian will tell you about if you are interested. Opening the street door you enter a cobbled old passageway from which you... More

The Anchorage was booked by my company as an overnight stop. I wish I had more time here as I was made to feel very welcome. Ian and Sandra have obviously gone to a great deal of effort to ensure that their guests are happy. The rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable and breakfast was a treat. I look... More

As a regular visitor to the UK, I've been everywhere between Edinburgh to Portsmouth! On my most recent stay, we decided to explore the northern most point in the northeast! We landed in Berwick Upon Tweed on a whim and literally looked for places to stay online! We found the Anchorage and simply knocked on the door to ask if... More

In december my wife and i needed a break. So around Christmas time we landed in Berwick upon Tweed. A place we really love. We spoke to Sandra on the phone and she gave us a very warm welcome with the words that we were very welcome at Christmas time. They run The Anchorage in Berwick. It was our first... More
