Heading south from Edinburgh, we stumbled across Ladythorne House by following signs from the A1, and cross referencing with the OS map. Absolutely the best. As hosts Rob, Val & Mr Parker could not do more. Hot drinks on arrival, and again later in the evening. We were just passing, booked for one night, immediately wanted 2. We had to... More

I have stayed at Ladythorne House many times over the years. You couldn't ask for better hosts than Val, Rob & Parker, we have been looked after incredibly well. Even down to drying out our wet walking clothes ( yes, it does rain a little in the UK) I personally couldn't think of a nicer place to stay .. beautiful... More

The Ladythorne House is a great place to stay. Val and Rob made us feel welcome from the minute we got in. As for the breakfast, it is amazing! We definitely would recommend this place and hope we'll be able to go back there one day :-)

Stayed at Ladythorne House for 3 nights by happy accident. The B&B we had booked bumped us at short notice and reserved a room here - lucky us! What a location! A bit off the beaten track and a great place to unwind. As soon as we arrived we started to relax, drinking a welcome cup of tea in the... More

Thank you Val, Rob & Parker for putting us up at short notice. What wonderful hospitality, second to none. Tea & coffee at the ready when ever we came in after a day sightseeing. You made 2 soft southerners very happy!!! We had a bedroom at the front of the house with fabulous views. We were travelling home (Hampshire) from... More

We have just returned from a family weekend at Ladythorne House. There were 18 of us in total arriving at different times through the afternoon and each of us had a lovely welcome from Val and Rob. It was like a home from home. Val baked cakes for us which were delicious and offers of tea and coffee on arrival.... More

We are a family of 4 and have stayed at Ladythorne for 5 years now! Val and Rob are so hospitable and friendly, you feel at home instantly! The Breakfasts are amazing, with such a variety of choice, as well as catering for vegetarians and allergies. Tea, coffee and soft drinks and biscuits are available whenever you like, and we... More

This was my third visit to Ladythorne House - this time as a convenient stopover on the A1 south, rather than previously, as dormie house to the excellent Goswick links golf course nearby. Arriving late, Val and Rob had a cup of tea and biscuit ready in no time, without me asking. After a good night's sleep in an ensuite... More

Some friends told us to try Ladythorne and they were right. Lovely building from 1721, comfortable spacious rooms, beautifully decorated, garden to stroll in, top breakfast with as much choice as you could want, try the kedgeree. But actually the main thing was the warmth and kindness of Val and Rob and Mr Parker senior. We have stayed in a... More
