What a fantastic b & b. Amanda and Steve know exactly how to make you feel very welcome and cater for your every need. Home made cake on arrival, espresso machine in your room, home made flapjacks in your room (forgot to take a couple with us on the day we left, grrrr - they are delicious), very comfortable bed,... This is a place where the owners have thought of every detail to help your stay be as enjoyable as possible. From the homemade banana loaf upon arrival, the help yourself carafes of lindisfarne mead and sherry , the little packs of razors and shaving cream in the bathroom. The breakfast was sublime, much was homemade including the bread, jams,... More

The best band b we have ever stayed in. We were greeted at the door, our bags were carried in and everything about the room and facilities explained. We were given home-made cake with our cup of tea and Steve and Amanda took time to chat to us to welcome us. We immediately felt at home in the lovely room.... More

This is by far the best B & B we have ever stopped in. The moment you walk through the front door in the elegant Georgian House you are made to feel so welcome. We were greeted by Amanda and Steve, two of the nicest people you should hope to meet. They are a mine of information and tips on... More

A great B&B. rooms was comfortable and attractive. Wifi, decent TV, good shower, comfy bed, nice sitting area, great coffee machine. Breakfast was lovely and Steve and Amanda are wonderful hosts - friendly, warm and genuine. Also full of good tips of places to visit, including the fab Mick Oxley gallery in Craster. Also very interested in what we thought... More

Visiting Northumberland? Look no further than Amanda and Steve's Oasis in the North. Fabulous accommodation with nothing left to chance. The welcome is fab (easy to find just off the A1) to be warmly met by Amanda and Steve, offered a piece of homemade cake by Amanda (lovely) and shown the accommodation and around the property, we were staying in... Another lovely review, thank you. All the points you mention are what we pride ourselves in. Our welcome and approachability, our food (although the White Swan is very good) and the comfort our guests experience when in their rooms. We work very hard to give our guests the experience they deserve when staying with us and from the reviews we... More

Steve and Amanda are two of the finest hoteliers we've ever met. From the homemade cherry flapjacks to the scale spaceship models in the dining room, they have both contributed countless personal touches to the Market Cross, each of which is designed to make you feel more at home than any B&B we've ever stayed in. A fabulous long weekend... More

It was our pleasure Dan. While we don't do bespoke meals very often, as we did not have any previously booked meals that evening it was a great opportunity to make something a little special. The Blue room is very popular with that bath and Amandas breakfasts do take some beating, even if I do say so myself. the models... More

This is without doubt the most comfortable and relaxing B&B I have encountered in my 30 year career sampling such establishments. Amanda and Steve are warm and welcoming hosts, she is an exceptional cook and nothing is too much trouble. Quite frankly you would be mad to stay anywhere else!

Only stayed one night at this fantastic b&b, but could have stayed longer. The owners, Steve and Amanda were really welcoming and our room (the red room) was of a very high standard in terms of furnishing, decor and added extras. The room was large with two comfortable chairs and lots of space. There was home made flapjack in the... More

Thank you Susan. A lovely review and as with the vast majority of our guests, the basin in the room was not an issue. We know this doesn't suit everyone and it is something we will rectify in the future. Amanda makes so much of our food offerings herself and we think this does set us apart from many other... More

This is an excellent B & B. My husband and I stayed for one night during a walking holiday and wished it could have been longer. We were given a warm welcome by Steve and Amanda. The accommodation was lovely with a small seating area where one could watch television if required and/or sip the complimentary sherry (or mead). The... More

Since we took over have redecorated and refurnished our rooms to hopefully appeal to a wider demographic than when we took over 2 years ago and we think we have achieved that. We want our guests to be able to relax in their rooms and watch TV or read as they wish and not feel they are just in a... More
