We stayed here for two night bed and breakfast and also ate in the restaurant both nights - very good fish dishes. It is easy to find on the A1 yet quiet as the bedrooms are at the back. The staff are all friendly and helpful and work very hard. It is a good base for exploring Northumberland - we... more

Stayed at Purdy lodge en route to Scotland. Despite its location right on the A1 it was very quiet but we did have a room at the back (with a view of Bamburgh Castle in the distance). We had a great, home cooked meal in the restaurant which was reasonably priced but could have eaten in the 24 hour cafe next... more

The hotel is situated to the left of the services area which contains a garage and large shop. There was ample car parking available. Checking in was quick and problem free. We arrived at 2.30pm and were greeted warmly and given our room key, which was a swipe card. We were told that hot and cold food is available 24... more

Purdy Lodge was ideal for our weekend 'escape' to explore the Northumberland Coast. Good location only 10 mins drive down pleasant country lane to Bamburgh and another 5 mins to Seahouses. Staff attentive and helpful but not too much so - we don't like a lot of fuss! Quiet, first floor bedroom clean and bright, large comfortable bed, good quality... more

Stayed here with family for two nights in August 2009. We found the rooms and the hotel in general to be clean, quiet and comfortable. The hotel is located right next to the A1, just five miles inland from Bamburgh, so provided us with a convenient base from which to explore the local area. Despite being right next to a... more

purdy lodge is not unlike a travelodge though purdy lodge lacked the atmosphere and charisma of a travelodge and it is way more expensive. very strange arrangements for breakfast. if you are staying on your own you get a breakfast, if you are staying with a wife or partner you don't.bizzare.i won't be back.the prices in the cafe are ridiculous,... more

We choose Purdy Lodge as we wanted somewhere cheap for an overnight whilst visiting Northumberland. At £60 for night, Purdy Lodge was exactly what we were looking for and it was good location on A1 near Bamburgh. On the whole our stay was fine tho room could have been doing with bit more of a clean, few random hairs and... more

Absolutely brilliantly sited right next to the A1 yet quiet and homely. I got a twin room for my single price, clean and well stocked with coffee, bath goodies etc., Good value for the price paid. Loved the views across the fields towards Bamburgh and proximity to Berwick, Lindisfarne, Alnwick and Seahouses. I chose to eat outside which I later... more

Stayed at the Lodge whilst attending a friend's wedding in the area. Staff friendly and helpful, food pretty good BUT standards of cleanliness in the bathroom left a bit to be desired! Seems one of the previous occupants forget to take some of their hair with them... Bed was comfy and good for a nights sleep, but sound proofing between... more
