I visited this place for a short weekend away. My room was spacious and clean. I had a few drinks in the beer garden at the back which has a lovely view of the village. The bar is cosy and the locals friendly. On the first night I ate in the bistro, there were many fish specials to choose from,... More

The room was dusty, paint peeling, cracks, bathroom door could not be locked, shower only luke warm water, black mould around bath and dirt around base of taps. Food was disgusting, have had much better in a 'greasy spoon cafe'. We only ate one evening meal, the next night we bought sandwiches outside. Breakfast first day was excellent but on... More

Had a great few nights here on our recent trip to Northumberland. The hotel is comfortable, food good (we especially enjoyed breakfast), and there is a very pretty garden and terrace where we could relax with a drink at the end of a day exploring the area. A great base from which to explore the attractions - we visited Bamburgh... More

A friendly, comfortable hotel in the beautiful Northumbrian countryside. We were delighted to find this hotel on a walk in the area last year and determined to return for a short stay. The room was clean and perfectly adequate and although there were problems with the hot water supply we had been fore-warned of this and it wasn't an issue.... More

staying locally, decided on Blue Bell for a change of scene, Lovely restaurant, view of lovely olde worlde garden, but food very disappointing. Tomato soup was just whizzed up tinned tomatoes, and tuna steak huge, tough and grey, with under cooked egg and green beans under it. Seemed to be a good buzz in the bar but we left to... More

Staying in Belford so tried this hotel for evening meals. The food is good but there are not enough staff and those who are there need a lot more training. It was busy on both occasions we ate in the Bistro (restaurant was always full) but the staff were running round in circles, service was slow and both bills were incorrect.

we had an enjoyable Sunday lunch with friends. including two bottles of wine with most having two courses which came to only 108 pounds. The only disappointment was that their specials blackboard which had excellent choices on it was not available on Sunday but there was no indication that this was the case. so we made our choices and then... Very good value and comfortable, food good with friendly waitresses. Secure storage for bikes in store room. We slept in the annexe with no disturbances, period surroundings with CTC badge over the door. Beer OK.

We were staying at a nearby B&B and discovered that the Blue Bell Hotel is the only place in the village serving evening meals. We were not disappointed with it though, and thought this hotel had a lovely relaxed atmosphere, with dogs welcome in the bar and garden area. There is a very spacious sunny beer garden area at the... More

An oasis during a busy weekend in the surrounding villages and town. Friendly and helpful manager and staff. Ample.breakfast with a buffet of cereals and fruit and a choice of cooked breakfast with eggs or kippers. Large double bedroom was clean and fresh though a little gloomy owing to heavy curtains in the window. Bathroom was clean with a shower... More
