I've been to the BlueBell 4 times now and would go back in a heart beat. The chap behind the bar is a miserable devil but the rest of the staff more than make up for him. I've never been given an "average" meal in the restaurant. The breakfasts are superb. The rooms are clean and comfortable and welcoming. I... more

Have never been to a worse hotel In my life- barman needs sacked- no welcome- we had to ask for the menus having sat down as he read his newspaper behind the bar. He then merely pointed us to the menus at the end of the bar which we presumably were to get our selves?? This was the last straw... more

We had planned to dine here but the man behind the bar was so utterly rude (not only to us but to other guests too) that we left after one quick drink. He was so rude to some Americans that it was embarrassing. They were overheard to say "it was like Fawlty Towers". Avoid this place at all costs. more

A quirky and charming place to stay in the lovely market town of Belford. The hotel overlooks the square of town that has clearly seen better days. A good base to explore the local area. Rooms are in need of a bit of a make over, probably best described as average. However, the twin room was large enough and the... more

We stayed at the blue bell hotel earlier this month and have to say we were pleasantly surprised. The blue bell was one of very few options for a good hotel in a decent area, within easy reach to all the attractions we wanted to take our son to (Edinburgh, Bamburgh and Alnwick Castle, lindisfarne etc) We stayed in a... more

A lovely building in a lovely quiet N'humberland town - in need of a bit of TLC. Very 'tired' 1980s menu in restaurant - but bar snacks looked good though didn't try. B'fast v.good. Had single occupancy of double room - nice, clean, quiet, comfortable room but no room to swing a mouse, let alone a cat, in hanging space.... more

This is an old coaching inn very near the A1, and very convenient for the Northumberland coast, and coastal towns. Our room was very nice, the bed was large & comfortable (although the duvet was too thick), and the room contained all I needed (TV, tea making, even an iron/board!). The bathroom was a little dusty but the toilet paper... more

In line with most accommodation in the area prices were high. This Hotel with great potential was ruined by a lack of attention to detail and the absence of overall management. The rooms were big enough but quite basic and tired. We cut sort our 5 night stay after two nights of poor quality meals. The first night was passable... more

Recently stayed for 3 nights on our return from Scotland. Hotel is pleasant from the outside and is in the centre of the village - this proved to be an issue on the first night (a Saturday) as both constant road noise and some rather loud locals returning from various pubs did not allow us a restful nights. Rooms1 to... more
