As a short family break away we ended up staying at the Sunningdale Hotel in Bamburgh. From the moment we arrived at the hotel we were made to feel really welcome by the owners Paul & Clare. A lovely traditional hotel with a modern lounge and dinning area . The food was great , especially as our children are very... more

Beware when you see management replying defensively to comments on Trip Advisor. We should have read the reviews before we stayed here. This "hotel" (it isn't a hotel - only a B&B) is in a good location but it is in urgent need of renovation. Bear in mind that it is £90 a night for bed & breakfast not the... more

We have just got back from our short stay at the Sunningdale B&B. Great position on Bamburgh high street with plenty of parking as it is very busy for cars. We were greeted on arrival (after ringing the bell in reception) and given our room, on the ground floor as my wife is 7 months pregnant. We didn't inform the... more

Just back from a few days staying at this hotel and this is the first time I've done a review. The staff were outstandingly friendly and the food was outstandingly good. We had dinner the first night in the hotel and it was wonderful food... if only we hadn't ventured to one of the neighbouring hotels the second night where... more

Such a shame a very nice owner but the place is a disaster. Expensive scruffy rooms, badly decorated with some very dangerous looking electrics (gaps round the light switches) and the bathroom fan didn't work. Ran out of bacon and coffee at breakfast took so long to replace that we didn't both. The breakfast is very mediocre, without eggs, a... more

Having reviewed these comments, I find them totally unfounded and would like to respond to them. In the previous three years our hotel has undergone major refurbishment and this room is one of our rooms due for refurb this winter. I will admit that the room is tired however the room can't be called Scruffy. Our staff work hard to...

I have stayed here a few times before and have enjoyed each stay. the rooms are modern with comfy beds and great showers (just what you need after a day in the dunes). the food is fab, breakfasts are great with plenty to choose from including a great cooked breakfast and the dinners in the restaurant are a delight. The... more

We took a special offer winter break at the Sunningdale for 3 days BB & EM at the incredible price of £25pppn. It was a cheap break but absolutley nothing about the stay was cheap. The room was freshly decorated, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was newly fitted and the shower was lovely, especially after being out in the cold... more

We have stayed there for 2 nights in November. No reception area.It took some time for someone to recieve us. The room was really badly decorated and apparentely it is one of the best ones " How do we know?" We asked to be moved, with no success. Restaurant - personaly we think they should review the website. The room... more

We just wanted a cheap and cheerfull and clean dog friendly hotel. We got a lot more...large room, well appointed, great location, friendly owners, nice breakfast (buffet style ....no eggs which is weird)...great walks nearby....a great deal more than we expected. I would recommend this place to everybody! We will be back early next year. more
