5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Decided to stay one extra night in Northumberland whilst walking from Seahouses to Bamburgh and was delighted to find The Lord Crewe Hotel with it's tasteful decor and friendly staff. The room was clean and once again the decor was tasteful and modern ......no chintz here. We booked a table in the restaurant and decided to enjoy a relaxing drink... More

I noticed that The Crewe had a new coffee shop on passing yesterday, so I just had to call in. What a great job the new owners have done converting the old reception room into a coffee shop, as there is only really one other coffee shop in Bamburgh The Copper kettle up the road, which is quaint, but in... Stopped off for lunch in the Wynding Bar last week and was not impressed. Sat outside in the patio area and ordered at the bar. There were two other tables taken when we arrived and one in the bar itself. However after waiting 25 minutes for our starter of soup to arrive and by then we were the only table... More

After finishing work I decided to pop into The Lord crew and relax with a coffee and read my paper. The waitress charged me £2.30 for a cappuccino which was undrinkable. She said she had never made one before and it was just a button she pressed on a machine . She had only been working there 3 weeks and... More

Usually stay with the family at the Mizen Head but was fully occupied so we booked the Lord Crewe, which I now understand is owned by the owners of the Mizen. Wonderful welcome on arrival and explained re breakfast etc. Lovely refurbished restaurant/breakfast area. Room was very compact but cosy - very clean and the bed was small to fit... More

Went with husband and son to try new menu and was very pleasantly surprised over last time we ate there. The food was fantastic, all flavoursome, and very decent portions. I would describe it as local food with a twist. For starters we had smoked chicken and roast pepper filo tartlet - very tasty, carrot and coriander soup - fresh... More

Room a tad small but breakfast made up for it! I love proper bone in meaty kippers for breakfast and that's what i got here! None of those awful cook in the bag kippers that so many hotels serve up! They seem to be doing refurbishments and staying open so some noise but hopefully they will be finished soon...style is... More

Stayed here recently. Had a nice room, although bathroom had some mould around the shower area. Had dinner in the hotel, but I wasn't very impressed. Had lamb cutlets, all very dry and the vegetables were hard. Breakfast was poor with regards to the fruit, only prunes and grapefruit! There was also cereal. The cooked breakfast was ok. Not sure... We haven't been since it changed hands, but can only say that over the last few years we always enjoyed our stay. The location is perfect for exploring the beautiful countryside and coast. The hotel is small and cozy, and the staff were always friendly and helpful (and happy!) We didn't eat in much in the evenings, but the breakfasts were... More

We had a meal her whilst staying in the town. It was tip top! 4 diners with different choices all delighted by their meal. The house wine was good and a reasonable price. The meal was unhurried and well served. We would recommend it and will return in the future.
