We booked a specific table at the Wyndings bistro/Lord Crewe for my dad's 70th birthday celebration. We arrived to find another party sitting at the table we had reserved, which although a small detail, is a bit annoying, as the seats we were given were next to the kitchen. We waited 30 mins for main courses, which were absolutely delicious... More

Ok. I'll not lie. This hotel wasn't my first choice but the one up the road (where we've stayed before) was fully booked. You always get a sense of apprehension with a "plan b" but I have to say that I was not disappointed. The inn is conveniently located for the castle and surrounding countryside. Well run and with polite... More

This was our second meal here in a week, during our stay in Northumberland. Our first meal was good - particularly the mussels but today my starter of smoked chicken tart consisted of cold, near frozen chicken with over cooked pastry- unpalatable and a health risk! I sent it back and decided I couldn't risk a second one. We were... More

We had a lovely meal in the Wyndings bar. A friendly welcome, lovely decor and warm ambience. Quality ingredients, well prepared and presented. I had a wonderful crab salad and my husband had a trio of fish. Small complaint; it would have been nice for the table to have been wiped over between customers. It is in a wonderful location... We dropped on this little gem whilst visiting Northumberland over the weekend. Extremely happy stay and will definitely go back. The room was clean and tidy and very comfortable, had one of the best nights sleep in ages. We dined in the restaurant where the food was delicious. The staff were friendly and efficient and the breakfast was gorgeous. Would... More

Can you tell the difference between cranberries and beetroot? The chef at the Lady Crewe can't and added a plastic cap for good measure! We stopped at the Lord Crewe Hotel for lunch - the bar was full but the tearoom (known as the Lady Crewe) was not so we looked at the deli style menu and decided to stop.... More

Decided to stay one extra night in Northumberland whilst walking from Seahouses to Bamburgh and was delighted to find The Lord Crewe Hotel with it's tasteful decor and friendly staff. The room was clean and once again the decor was tasteful and modern ......no chintz here. We booked a table in the restaurant and decided to enjoy a relaxing drink... More

I noticed that The Crewe had a new coffee shop on passing yesterday, so I just had to call in. What a great job the new owners have done converting the old reception room into a coffee shop, as there is only really one other coffee shop in Bamburgh The Copper kettle up the road, which is quaint, but in... Stopped off for lunch in the Wynding Bar last week and was not impressed. Sat outside in the patio area and ordered at the bar. There were two other tables taken when we arrived and one in the bar itself. However after waiting 25 minutes for our starter of soup to arrive and by then we were the only table... More

After finishing work I decided to pop into The Lord crew and relax with a coffee and read my paper. The waitress charged me £2.30 for a cappuccino which was undrinkable. She said she had never made one before and it was just a button she pressed on a machine . She had only been working there 3 weeks and... More
