The inn has been refurbished downstairs and has a lovely restaurant and bar where food is pricey but plentiful and delicious. Staff are friendly and helpful especially the girls in the tearoom. Rooms have yet to be given much needed makeover but are clean and bed was very comfortable, the only downside is having the room over the bar- you... More

When I booked to stay I was offered a double (with single occupancy rates) with a bath, which sounded great as I was doing a long walk to get here. Unfortunately on checking in I was given a room with only a shower but I'd unpacked before I realised and I was also very tired after a long walk so... More

Popped in after a trip to the Farne Islands mid afternoon. Had loose leaf English Breakfast tea and scones straight from the oven, filled with super fruit, with Jam, butter and cream. The two young ladies that looked after us where helpful, chatty and most efficient. You can sit outside with a view of the castle or sit in. Highly... More

A great find! My husband and I stayed her having turned up last minute looking for a hotel, our room was basic but more than adequate, it seemed clean, comfortable and had all the facilities you would want for a base while away, I have to say the shower was the best shower I've ever had! We ate in the... More

We only popped in for a light lunch, and didn't find much for vegetarians. The staff were apologetic and did their best to help, including bringing the menu through from their adjoining tea-room. We ended up with sandwiches containing a variety of cheeses, salad n stuff. They were simply superb. It's hard to explain how something so simple can taste... More

Stopped for lunch and ate in Wynding bar area. Crab soup and chicken sandwiches were so tasty. With views towards the castle and just a short walk to the beach, this bar is perfectly situated. There is an area for outside dining too. Look forward to going back on our next visit!

We booked a specific table at the Wyndings bistro/Lord Crewe for my dad's 70th birthday celebration. We arrived to find another party sitting at the table we had reserved, which although a small detail, is a bit annoying, as the seats we were given were next to the kitchen. We waited 30 mins for main courses, which were absolutely delicious... More

Ok. I'll not lie. This hotel wasn't my first choice but the one up the road (where we've stayed before) was fully booked. You always get a sense of apprehension with a "plan b" but I have to say that I was not disappointed. The inn is conveniently located for the castle and surrounding countryside. Well run and with polite... More

This was our second meal here in a week, during our stay in Northumberland. Our first meal was good - particularly the mussels but today my starter of smoked chicken tart consisted of cold, near frozen chicken with over cooked pastry- unpalatable and a health risk! I sent it back and decided I couldn't risk a second one. We were... More

We had a lovely meal in the Wyndings bar. A friendly welcome, lovely decor and warm ambience. Quality ingredients, well prepared and presented. I had a wonderful crab salad and my husband had a trio of fish. Small complaint; it would have been nice for the table to have been wiped over between customers. It is in a wonderful location...
