Stayed there this weekend, fab room, fab hospitality, fab breakfast. Stunning views with lots of nooks and crannies to explore. Would recommend The Cook and Barker for evening meal as only a few miles away, you need to pre-book for the restaurant but the bar area has always somewhere to sit and is a cosy friendly atmosphere.

We stayed here on our way South and on our return North. Great little find. Accepted our pet dog, hence our booking. We had two different rooms, both lovely and extremely comfy. Wonderful breakfast and excellent hosts. Would definitely recommend. Our only concern was the rather sharp entrance, which is directly off the A1!!

Stayed here for a wedding at Alnwick Tree house. Great price £72 inc breakfast. The whole place is cool. Lovely surroundings, the settings are cool & I saw some outdoor cabins. Rooms are ample & there's free Wifi. I didn't make breakfast but I heard it was ace. Oh & buttons the cat kept me company.

The prettiest, quirkiest place I've visited in a long time, Alnwick Lodge is anything but your average premier inn. Each room and gypsy caravan (we had a caravan but family of ours had rooms so managed to see both!) is bursting with character and has been hand crafted by owner Peter, while his lovely wife Evelyn creates a welcoming and... A big Thank You to Peter and Evelyn for a wonderful welcome to their lovely home. I can't reccommend it enough. The atmosphere is calm and restful, well situated just on the A1, but quiet, as it is set back in a fantastic garden. The breakfast is excellent - eggs collected that morning from the chickens, tomatoes from the vegetable... More

This hotel/B&B will not be to everyone's taste, but from my perspective it was clean, friendly, well positioned and competitively priced. I would absolutely stay there again. Yes, some of the fittings were home made and unique, however, everything was done with love and with the guests in mind, something which can't always be said of chains. I wish the... More

We stayed in this quirky and lovely hotel on 23 08 14 when attending a wedding in the area. The owner was lovely, ensuring our room was ready earlier than normal to allow us to get to the wedding on time. The room although smallish, was charming, cosy and comfortable and had everything we needed. The breakfast was delicious and... More

Harry Potter would have loved this place, and we did too. Eccentric is the right description, but everything's done to make guests feel welcome and comfortable. The bedroom (ours was in the Calf Shed) was huge, with a vast soft double bed and a large day bed for my 8-year-old granddaughter. Bathroom fine. Breakfast (to quote the child) "Awesome!" with... If you looking for perfectly plastered walls and totally sterile environment, then this is not the place for you. If you enjoy stepping out of the "norm" and by that I mean, antique and hand crafted fixtures and fittings, set in a rustic environment, then you might well enjoy a stay here. The hosts and staff were very friendly and... More

Sorry, but I just don't get it! If u want to stay in a room with no ventilation, room privacy maintain by a heavy dusty curtain, washing in a badly cracked basin, towel rail made up of a copper pipe-work piece of art and lying in bed staring at galvanised shelf brackets, then this is the place for u!
