The junkyard is a most unattractive welcome to this place, but the room was far worse. We stayed here because better-rated accommodation was already fully booked. The room had no windows (just a door at the front) and needed lights on during the day. The furnishings and fittings were of either very low quality or tatty ‘antique’. This is B... more

This is indeed a charming and quirky place to stay - the quality of the room was outstanding, we were only there for one night. I was a bit worried that the location - right by the A1 - would be noisy, but there was no problem. We obviously caught the hosts on a bad day as we were greeted... more

We organised a 60th birthday here and the location made it a memorable experience. Remarkably friendly reception by the owners and a very characterful hotel, full of antiques and charming decors for the rooms. Much more than just a hotel. The hotel is outside Alnwick so that a car is essential but very well placed for visiting all the local... more

We stayed in the East granary as we are a family of five. Evelyn & Peter were very friendly and informative about the area. The breakfast was delicious offering us cereal, fruit, full english and toast. Will definitely be booking the b& b again when we return to Northumberland. Loved the area, the rooms are outstanding and the welcome very friendly. location... more

What can I say! We have just come back from the most exceptional night away. I booked dinner, bed and breakfast for our group of eight and Peter & Evelyn could not have done anything more, to make it more special for our friends 60th birthday. It was the ultimate birthday treat. What a gem of a place. Evelyn and... more

Just had to pass on my recommendation for Alnwick Lodge. I stayed there last week and out of the 4 hotels I stayed in during my trip south this one was by far the best. It is so unique and the owners could not have been more friendly or professional. I will definitely be back...keep up the good work. more

I stayed at the Alnwick Lodge in November 08. I wanted somewhere a bit different from the usual "hotels", and was very happy with my choice. I would describe the place as an old farmhouse,a big place which is very pretty, kind of place you would love to live in but know you never will. Having stayed at other hotels in... more

We are a family of 5 and booked the Alnwick Lodge after being signposted to this B&B as having available family rooms. It was only after booking that we read the reviews and were then a bit unsure as to whether we had done the right thing. However, the place is lovely and is full of old worldy charm, which... more

We (me, my husband and 14yr old daughter) stayed at the Alnwick Lodge for two nights in August. It is a totally out of the box experience and one that we thoroughly enjoyed. We had the cart shed, which i would consider to have been finished since other reviews on the same room. We had proper beds, unlike previous comments,... more

After driving past the entrance on the first attempt, we drove up the gravel drive; and past what can only be described as a junk yard. The entrance to the reception area is not well marked, and we needed to ask directions from child playing outside. When we did make contact with the owner, we were given a friendly welcome... more
