OK, not chic or trendy but lovely fresh and well cooked food, and now a decent wine list too. We stayed in one of the cottages, which are just brilliant - roomy, comfortable, well designed and equipped. The only thing that irritated a bit was the still dingy dining room and the slightly restricted breakfast menu (eg no black pudding!).... more

We have stayed at this hotel regularly for the past five years. Have always found it to be very good value for money. Food is excellent and the service friendly and polite. The rooms are all different owing to the age of the property, which just adds to the charm. The surrounding area is stunning, great for walkers, historians, bird... more

My, Oh, My. We have stayed in this hotel maybe four times and I'm afraid our trip last week will be our last. Three nights in a "Superior Room" --No 11--had a kitchen extractor fan belting noise and smells for hours on end. Music from a radio started just after 7.00am followed shortly after by the fan. Quite aside from... more

I strongly disagree with this review and do not accept that our hotel is on the slide. We have always charged a very reasonable rate for clean, comfortable rooms, all of which have been refurbished within the past few years. We serve good quality food that has recently won acclaim at the Northumberland Local Food Awards and at every Alnwick...

We stayed for a week in June and had a lovely time. There are so many places to visit and the beaches are glorious. As for the hotel the staff were always cheerful and nothing was too much trouble .Our superior room was large and the bed and settee were really comfortable. The water in shower and bathroom was always... more

It is not suitable for young fun loving types as the hotel is very uncool with dated decoration and a more mature clientele, however it is also not suitable for anyone who finds stairs a problem as there is no lift available and no offer to carry your bags upstairs from the staff. It is not suitable for solo lady... more

I strongly disagree with this review . We charge a very reasonable rate for clean, comfortable rooms. We serve good quality food and we always strive to provide friendly service, even when faced with the most difficult and unpleasant of guests. Our hotel does offer excellent value for money, a fact borne out by our 90%+ occupancy rates for most...

If you stay here you need to be aware that this is a 2 star hotel charging 4 star prices and justifying it because there is very little else in the area. The room we had was clean and adequate but to a discerning and well travelled hotel guest was very basic and therefore disappointing for the price. Decor is... more

This guest was charged £49.50 per person per night for Bed & Breakfast in a standard room - the nearest 4 star hotel to us, Linden Hall, charges £105.00 per person per night for their standard rooms with Bed & Breakfast. It is blatantly obvious that we do not charge 4 star prices and I reserve the right to be...

BE AWARE that if you do not like this Hotel and you wish to move to a better Hotel you will be charged for the entire stay of the original booking and receive a less than warm and personal service. I feel it is my duty to warn you to EXPECT: Dead hanging baskets Old fashioned décor and clashing highly... more

We charge a very reasonable rate for clean, comfortable rooms, good food and friendly service. Our hotel does offer excellent value for money, a fact borne out by our 90%+ occupancy rates for most of the year and a very high quality 2 star rating from the AA. We do not have lifts, as all our rooms are on the...

Stayed one night at the Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. The staff are friendly and make you feel welcome, our rooms were very comfortable and we all enjoyed an exceptional nights sleep. The restaurant has a good choice and the food is excellent. We will be returning for a longer stay, so we can explore the... more

This hotel is a real gem! On arrival we were shown to our room by a friendly, smiling receptionist - the great service continued throughout our stay and I can honestly say that this hotel has some of the nicest staff I've ever encountered. The room was bright and spacious (we went for a superior, although we spoke to other... more
