A very enjoyable long weekend in first class accommodation. Philly is the ideal host - knowledgeable about the area and its places of interest and restaurants. The conversion has been completed to a very high standard and the lounge and dining room add to the feeling of space. The bedroom was very comfortable and had everything you could want. The... More

My wife and I were taking a short break at the end of April and the accommodation had been booked by our children as a Christmas present and so we had had little input into the holiday. Upon arrival, we were made to feel very welcome by our excellent hostess, Philly Bell. We were shown our accommodation which really was... More

We were due to attend a Wedding at Ellingham Hall on the Saturday, so my wife did some research on the web and found this fantastic B & B. All the other reviews at the time were unanimously favourable, and so thus reassured and encouraged we contacted Philly and booked. I am somewhat disabled in having restricted mobility, so the... Philly is a wonderful host as many have pointed out below and we were made to feel very welcome. Her house is a modern ,almost cutting edge conversion from a former farmsteading, just on the edge of Alnwick. The accommodation is ranged around a courtyard with several other properties belonging to the same family used as self catering accommodation. Our... More

We have just got back from a fantastic break in Northumberland. The Redfoot Lea B&B is lovely. The rooms are immaculate and the bed in the super kingsize / double room was very comfortable. Philly made every effort to ensure we enjoyed our stay: she's an excellent hostess and a great cook. We loved the breakfasts and the cakes she... More

What a wonderful find. Dare we share it with others? It would be selfish not to but.... This really is one of the nicest places we have ever stayed and would unreservedly recommend it. We are frequent users of hotels(usually 4*) and B and Bs in this country and can find nothing at all to fault and much to commend.... More

We have just returned home after a trip to Northumberland with family. I researched this B & B on tripadvisor before booking and the reviews are all correct. This is THE place to stay whilst in Northumberland. From the moment we arrived we were treated like family from Philly. Philly the owner is very friendly and helpful without being over... More

Having decided to visit Redfoot Lea at the beginning of March 08, after reading other gleaful reviews, I still went thinking it was just going to be an average B&Bs but maybe just slightly better. Redfoot Lea is far better than your average place and part of me doesn't want to tell others how lovely this place is for fear... More
