Booked for Sunday lunch for 7 boys and 7 parents as we were heading back to Newcastle from Berwick following a rugby match. So glad we did. The food was delicious. The interior is beautiful, modern yet still retaining a country charm. The carvery is self serve, which lots you fill up your plate with waht you want and everything... More

It wasn't what I was expecting, for some reason I thought that it would have a bit more character. But I should have done my research properly. The Hogs Head is located well over a mile from the centre of Alnwick, just to the east of the A1 intersection on a new build industrial estate. Not very picturesque but in... More

Stayed here for my mum's birthday in Alnwick, and really could not fault it. Staff were very welcoming and friendly, and the food was absolutely delicious. Rooms very spacious and clean, and all 14 of our party came away happy with our stay.

When you travel for five hours to get to your destination, all you want is a quiet meal, a quiet drink and a quiet night. The Hog's Head at first glance might not seem to be able to deliver any of these; the bar restaurant was pretty full when we arrived for our evening meal, but the meal and accompanying... More

When booking a room you should state very clearly that you want a room on the side of the building away from the A1. One side of the hotel directly faces the A1 motorway around 40 metres away, and if you're unlucky enough to get one of these rooms the noise is very loud and continuous despite the double glazing.... What a shame that your first and only TA review is a bad one star review about us? Our staff have no recollection of you staff saying you should have specified a room away from the A1? Our staff are always helpful and can advise the best room to suit you? It's funny that I have been responding to Tripadvisor... More

Thank you so much for your review. We really appreciate the five stars too. Regarding the free WiF we have changed the information on our website to say it is only available in our dining areas. We do our best to ensure it is available in all bedrooms however it can be intermittent despite ongoing work to improve the service. More

We spent three days at The Hogs Head while in Alnwick for a reunion weekend. The rooms are large, very clean and welcoming, the food is very good although a limited menu and the staff are brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they were always helpful. Some of our group used the disabled accommodation and said that... More
