Stayed here recently for one night with a group of friends while we were visiting Alnwick Gardens and Castle. The Hog's Head is ideally located for this. Even though the hotel is close to the A1 you cannot hear any noise inside the rooms. The rooms are spacious and very clean. Had our evening meal here and the food was... More

Having had a disasterous meal at the Kings Head, Newton under Roseberry, which is owned by the same group as the Hogs Head (see my earlier review), I was very apprehensive about my stay at the Hogs Head whilst attending a friends son's wedding at nearby Newton Hall. However, I was pleasantly surprised (and relieved) to find that my fears... More

My friend and I stayed in the Hog's Head Inn for four nights and would consider it to be an ideal base for touring round Northumberland. It is conveniently located in a business park just off the A1 on the outskirts of Alnwick. It has a large car park which is easily accessible from the hotel. Despite being classed as... More

I didnt stay in the hotel but had one of the most glorious meals I have had in a long time. Waitresses and bar staff excellent and Chef was pretty amazing too. One minor error in the meal which was rectified instantly. Decor was pleasant and relaxed. I enjoyed my time there and I will be going back

Last minute booking (literally). Turned up without booking and within minutes was installed in a great sized room. King size bed, all usual refinements in the room. Very comfortable. Bar and eating area very relaxing and the food was both varied and good. Three real ales on and all very good, another big plus. Only downer was breakfast did not... More

We only live 5 miles from the Hog's Head, but the 1st time we have had a meal there. The food was excellent, but oh dear the wine. I can by a bottle of Merlot for £5:00, but why oh why do they charge £15:00 and up here. I appreciate profit has to be made and staff paid, but that... More

Usually just come here for drinks but decided to get food with my boyfriend. We Ordered sandwiches and side order of chips. I have to say they were the nicest tuna sandwiches ever. :-) The portions were massive couldn't finish it so no need for order of side chips. Would definitely recommend here for food reasonably priced.

This is a relatively new hotel and is very well finished . Our room was spacious, very comfortable and had everything we needed for our one night stay. Breakfast was good and the restaurant and menu looked lovely although we didn't use it, preferring to venture into Alnwick. The only downside is that you probably need to take the car... More

Can thoroughly recommend this hotel. It's not very old and still has a newness about it. Again we booked this very last minute and have to say that this is one of my favourite. We have stayed there a few times now and have received the same service every time. We booked a double room and it was very spacious.... More

Thank you so much for the review and five stars for our inn - we're delighted to be one of your favourites and look forward to you staying again! Yes, our rooms are fab - they were actually awarded as five stars, but it is our decision to be a three star inn with rooms, simply because we do not... More

We were there for the 3 castles challenge golf tournament. The Hotel is as good as it was last year when we visited for the same tour mount. The staff were a credit to any hotel in the country and I would give all of them 10 out of 10. Nothing was too much trouble and all requests were met... More

Thank you so much for the review and five stars - and indeed for coming back to stay with us again. We value your custom. We do have net curtains in some rooms - I will pass on your comments. You might have found yourself as an extra in Downton Abbey or Vera! We seem to have become something of... More
