We arrived at 10 to 2. A surly receptionist told us"check in is 2.00pm". This didn't matter too much we were meeting family and set off. Although it would have been considerate of her to check to see if our room was available. Came back 4.30 had a drink in Harday's Bistro. We had paid for dinner with our booking,ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh,... more

The hotel was lovely, and staff very nice. A very quiet area. Very disapponted in Hardy's Bistro, but the breakfasts were very nice. The town of Alnwick is beautiful and the hotel is well placed. Car parking was in a long stay car park as hotel car park was full, but at £2 for 24 hours who could complain at... more

Room fab - we were lucky enough to be able to book the Walkworth Suite at front of hotel. Modern, clean, loads of room and bathroom up to standard with lovely shower. Dinner in Olympic suite - surrounding environment amazing, food good and service ok. Dinner in Hardy's Bistro - lovely waitress serving all occupants, food good though my salmon... more

I stayed here for one night, as I was working at conference being held in the gardens, close to the hotel. The welcome I got could be considered perfunctory at best, and downright rude at worst. Reception staff did not even smile. I had a lot of luggage but was not offered any help with it, and getting to my... more

Do not accept the offer of the supposed 'FREE' dinner deal! Really bad food...and loud service. Surroundings interesting but out Super deal meant we were obviously Second class guests. We booked with OPEN ROADS on line as they were offering 2 nights and free dinner. On arrival the staff tried to tell us we did not have the 'DEAL' and... more

My wife and I stayed here for Valentine's Day this year and we were really happy with it. We've stayed at all sorts of hotels - budget to boutique - and we think this is above average. The room (129) was decorated in a contemporary style and had everything we needed - a nice double bed with crisp white linen,... more

On arrival there was a bit of a mix up with our booking, the manager, although a wee bit stressed, sorted everything out and upgraded our room. He couldn't have been more charming. The room was really good, warm and spacious, although one criticism would be that there was no heating in the bathroom. A tall heated towel rail would... more

Stayed for 1 night at the White Swan Hotel in Alnwick. Loved the room (exactly as pictured on the website - very rare!), big bed, nice bathroom, and fantastic breakfast room. Three areas could be improved: new mattresses (we had to turn ours round as it was worn and sloping!), strange library-like atmosphere in the hotel bar, and some breakfast... more
