I have just returned from camping at the shepherd's rest. This was my second visit and already planning another. The camping area and facilities were great with showers and toilets. Just situated behind the pub which offers b&b, lovely food and drinks, fantastic service in a very friendly environment. I had the cavery today for Sunday lunch, huge portions, delicious,... More

Been a while since we visited Bob for Sunday lunch, and it was nice to be back for his home cooking and pleasant company. As usual the food was excellent, choice of the usual roasts and a special mince and dumplings! All hot, delicious and plenty of it. All four of us cleared our plates and then after a respite... More

This must be the prettiest camp site we have visited. Well kept and tidy and with lovely ducks! However only a cold tap in the campsite toilet. Would have expected hot water for 20 pounds a night. Great location. Landlord Bob is a lovely friendly chap but the food was nothing special. Although it was pleasant we would not visit... More

Very disappointed with this B&B. Room very shabby, bathroom tiny and not very clean. There was an overpowering smell in the room which was really outputting. Had already paid for two nights and as Bob was such a nice man, didn't feel we could complain at the time. Would not recommend. Sorry Bob.

We stayed for two nights in August (we was booked for three) the room was a dirty and shabby and at £90 a night we expected more. The breakfast was as previously stated huge but extremely greasy and tasteless and if you prefer something more heart friendly then don't build your hopes up as the bananas were black and the... Stayed for a couple of nights in a double room. The owner, Bob was a real character and amazing host. Nothing was too much trouble for him, he even gave us all a lift into Alnwick in his jeep. The rooms are quite small and facilities limited, however they were situated just above a charming pub serving good beer and... More

Yes Bob is certainly a character and in a world of homogenised gastro pubs the pub itself is refreshingly untouched. The shower ran hot and fast. That's about it for the positives I'm afraid. We arrived late one sunday, using the place as a one night stop over on the way up to Edinburgh. The room was tired and shabby.... More

Very friendly welcome by Bob who is a character. The campsite is nice and is an excellent location for Alnwick and the castle. The ducks are entertaining as well. We we're invited to a charity night at the pub and were made to feel welcome with Bob looking after us. He was on top form all night especially with the... More

We booked into this lovely little site on our way home from holiday, Bob the landlord and park owner was very friendly and welcoming. Small caravan park holding 5 vans and various tents which had one outside toilet hut and a separate outside shower hut. Strange at first but thought it very quirky and loved the aspect of back to...
