Stayed at the market tavern for one night - a hotel with lots of character and characters. Yes the rooms need updating but were clean and at first glance the accomodation may put people off. The hotel is situated in the heart of Alnwick, great for seeing the town, but be warned the Town Hall clock chimes every 15 minutes day and night! So you will suffer from sleep deprivation. Was booked in there for one night to go to a wedding in Alnwick, but will never go back there again,going up to room the stair carpet was stained, thick with dust and the cobwebs i dont think its been cleaned properly for weeks, and now the bedroom, carpet hadnt been hoovered for days the dust was every place and... more
Stayed 4 nights and in all that time we did not get clean towels, bedding or bin emptied. The bedroom and bathroom just looked scruffy. white paint splashes all over carpet. more
had our daughters 21st at the Market Tavern with family staying overnight there. Sue and Dave the licensee's were the most accomodating, friendly and hard working of people.
