We completed the C 2 C in summer with old friends whilst over in the UK. We stayed here for one night and found it to be really enjoyable with good home cooking, very drinkable ale and a cosy bedroom. If in the area try to visit the Overwater Lodge Restaurant in near by Nenthead, we had the best dining... More

Myself and a couple of friends stopped here during on the second night of a three day C2C trip. We arrived quite late and were worried about missing dinner, the staff opened an empty room so we could all get through the shower quickly and eat in good time. The evening meal was excellent proper North East pub food exactly... More

We were booked in here for a meal after the second day of the coast to coast. Our table was booked for 8 which should have been fine however due to a missed turn and an added 15 miles to the journey we were very late. We tried calling ahead but the area isn't the best for mobile signal, when... More

Many thanks for taking the time to write a review. We fully appreciate that from your point of view you cannot see what the problem would be with a group of 12 arriving over an hour late to a remote village inn for an evening meal. On that particular Sat night we had 72 cyclists to feed. Your group unfortunatley... More

Stopped off for the second night on our C2C trip and another very warm welcome. Room was a twin rather than a double but was clean and welcoming and had just had a new shower put in which was lovely. We went down for dinner, lovely comforting soup and chicken curry and the desserts were rather nice too. The pool... More

Many thanks for taking the time to write this review. Great to hear you enjoyed most of the visit but we are sorry to hear you did not get just what you wanted for breakfast. We do come round in the evening and ask each guest just what they would like for breakfast, ie fully English or poached eggs on... More

Thank you to Ann and staff for a very welcome visit. After an awful day on the hills in the terrible weather we were unable to make it to our next stop. Ann welcomed us with open arms, very friendly and immediately helped us get dry and warm up (just what we needed!) Our room was lovely and hot shower... More

I stayed here on 14/07/14 as part of a group of 12 on our second day of our c2c ride. As other posters have said, this is a proper pub, and a very clean, comfortable and welcoming place to stay. The inn has well-kept beers, friendly and helpful owners and staff, friendly locals at the bar and contented dogs lying in... More

This is one of the few remaining & "open" great finds - A pub with a proper landlady, good selection of Real Ales, quaint & quirky interior, exterior seating and in wonderful countryside. If you are in search of a real hostelry with a warm welcome get yourself along to Allenheads.

Staff really friendly, great food at great prices. Real ales for those who want them. Can't be beaten! We ate here on a Monday evening on the second day of the C2C. The ambience was great - sitting outside in the sun drinking a great pint of beer, what more could you want!
