Stopped off for the second night on our C2C trip and another very warm welcome. Room was a twin rather than a double but was clean and welcoming and had just had a new shower put in which was lovely. We went down for dinner, lovely comforting soup and chicken curry and the desserts were rather nice too. The pool... More

Many thanks for taking the time to write this review. Great to hear you enjoyed most of the visit but we are sorry to hear you did not get just what you wanted for breakfast. We do come round in the evening and ask each guest just what they would like for breakfast, ie fully English or poached eggs on... More

Thank you to Ann and staff for a very welcome visit. After an awful day on the hills in the terrible weather we were unable to make it to our next stop. Ann welcomed us with open arms, very friendly and immediately helped us get dry and warm up (just what we needed!) Our room was lovely and hot shower... More

I stayed here on 14/07/14 as part of a group of 12 on our second day of our c2c ride. As other posters have said, this is a proper pub, and a very clean, comfortable and welcoming place to stay. The inn has well-kept beers, friendly and helpful owners and staff, friendly locals at the bar and contented dogs lying in... More

This is one of the few remaining & "open" great finds - A pub with a proper landlady, good selection of Real Ales, quaint & quirky interior, exterior seating and in wonderful countryside. If you are in search of a real hostelry with a warm welcome get yourself along to Allenheads.

Staff really friendly, great food at great prices. Real ales for those who want them. Can't be beaten! We ate here on a Monday evening on the second day of the C2C. The ambience was great - sitting outside in the sun drinking a great pint of beer, what more could you want!

After the hardest day of cycling, the sight of the pub was a relief! Great welcome and landlady Ann had remembered it was a 50th birthday celebration which was a lovely touch - 4 girls, 2 twin rooms, both clean, tidy, comfy with lots of soap and hot water provided. There was mention that hot water can run out but... More

Part of a party of 24 from Whitley Bay. Great food and great hospitality. Would definitely recommend it for cyclists. Got there mid afternoon after cycling from Penrith. Sat outside in the sun having a few drinks which were reasonably priced. Meal for party of 25 was served promptly and was godd home cooked food - all of which were... More

Certainly not 5 star accomodation but a perfectly suitable place to lay your head get dry,fed and watered. Bikes are safe and you are sent on your way with a wonderful breakfast. Thanks for... More

We were a party of 8 C2C bikers and we arrived on a high after competing the hardest day of the C2C route. The Inn is beautifully located and obviously gets business because of it's ideal stop over location on the C2C route. Yes we were rushed into ordering straight away but we didn't really mind as we were hungry.... More

Many thanks for taking the time to write this review. We are sorry you felt you were rushed in to ordering your evening meal but we do have to cook it! Being in the middle of nowhere we have very little passing traffic so almost all our dinners are pre-booked. I am not sure how long you expect us to... More

Stopped here last Saturday night with 10 guys on the C2C.Steaks were fabulous and the breakfast was spot on.The beer was good and reasonably priced but above all, the landlady and all her staff were superb. If you like a laugh, this is the place to stay to help forget about the tired legs and sudacream.
