Was the worst experience in a hotel I have ever had. Dirty looks and having calls to our room to ask if two males are staying in the room. Overpriced for such an awful standard. Rooms were freezing. Do not advise staying here at all.

As the sole occupants of the dining room we had a long wait for our food. The tomato soup had run out that night by 6.30pm. The waiter was very attentive and couldn't do much to remedy the very poor food served. The chips were black evidenced by photographs taken but the fish was fine as was the steak. The... More

We booked our wedding with the George (now the naseby) 18 months in advance and after lots of problems due to changes in management the general manager and functions manager pulled it off. Our day was absolutely perfect, we couldn't have asked for more. The room was beautiful, the food even better and the staff were great. We cant fault... More

First of all, we had trouble finding the hotel, it had no name on it. We eventually found it and and parked in cramped car park (a planning issue apparently). Room, smart, tidy, clean after recent refurbishment. Staff friendly and helpful. I guess it was low occupancy when we were there as we were the only ones at breakfast. Atmosphere... More

We stayed one night here and would be happy to stay more. The hotel has just had a refit and it looks lovely - the bedroom was nicely decorated with a good sized bed with a comfy mattress. The en-suite was similarly decorated and fitted - the shower was both hot and powerful. Our room was at the front of... More

Our wedding reception and evening party went without a hitch. We found that all the staff especially Steven (function manager) & Rita could not do enough for us all, anything & everything we asked for these two people delivered it. Absolutely nothing was too much to ask for, the sit down meal was excellent as was the evening buffet. We... More

after travelling 5hrs we arrived at the hotel with friends, only to be told that there was only one room available when we had booked two, so our friends had to use the sister hotel,. After a bit of a disagreement with the receptionist over this were given our room key, room 23, .The corridor was badly lit properly to... More

We have recently stayed at the George to attend a funeral which was held at the church opposite. Having booked on line through Hotel.com we were mistified to find they appeared to know nothing of our booking. The evening was spent on my laptop trying to prove to a foreign girl that we had paid at the time of booking.... More
