Entering the pub, it's hard to believe that it's location is a small village, because you immediately experience a welcoming, busy atmosphere, but even so, greeted straight away and not left waiting at the bar. The hardest part is actually choosing from the Menu!, as there are so many lovely choices. We chose from the pizza menu, and they were without... More

We stayed here for the one night as we had travelled from Kent to weaverthorpe to collect our new puppy. The room was fine although it needed some essential repairs. The light in the bathroom was hanging from the ceiling as pointed out by the owner and the door lock was missing and the door didn't close properly without the... More

Just a few points on this one, we did apologise about the lose light which had happened two days before and was fixed the day after.I think they have been confused on a missing lock as that is false. I was offering our private garden as a favour and yes hadn't cleared my dogs mess up for 4 days but... More

On booking we recieved a phone call to tell us no staff would be on to check us in when we arrived monday but was given a number to call when we arrived and someone... More

This pub has a lot of potential. The staff and food was excellent but the rooms need some work. If the rooms were more reasonably priced I could accept that but this isn't the case. The money being charged should be re-invested bringing the rooms to a better standard.

We stayed for one night at the Star Inn recently, after a day visiting Heartbeat Country and Whitby on the Steam Train. We had a lovely warm welcome from the hosts and were shown straight to our room. We had the family room and yes, cosmetically, it could have been better presented and would not take much adjustment to make... More

We booked a one night stay at the Star Inn recently. On arrival we were greeted by the most friendly hosts and taken to our room. After seeing the ambience of the pub and commenting what a lovely place it is, I have to say that the room was a little disappointing. It was ensuite, which was fab, but with... More

Lovely pub always welcoming. Came with the kids and all enjoyed our meals. Lovely cosy fire to keep the chill off was a good touch. Pizza's are fantastic and love the cutting wheel touch you get with them. Kids shared a desert as I think they are too much money each at £5 Will be back

We stayed here 1st April in the family room. 1 double, 2 singles and took our dog along too! Plenty of room, nice and comfortable. Only downside, to what was otherwise a most enjoyable stay, was the banging noises coming from the kitchen below. Went on until about midnight. Wil and Ali good hosts. Nice old fashioned country pub with... More

Just back from a great break - the peaceful location was just what we wanted and the family room suited ourselves and our teenager perfectly as it is actually two separate rooms forming a 'suite'. Our dog was made very welcome and allowed in all areas and the relaxed attitude to dogs really made the stay. Both the owners and... More
