Everyone was really friendly, located in a friendly area too! From arrival we felt comfortable, Will and Alice were approachable and very friendly! The food was great and well worth the price, the rooms were homely and the bed was comfortable. The Inn was very traditional and a nice quiet spot for weary travelers! If we are ever back down... We have visited the Star on numerous occasions over the last year and have always enjoyed the food, atmosphere and friendliness of Ali and Will. Today's visit exceeded previous fantastic experiences. Why? The front bar/restaurant areas have been combined, providing much more open space. Menu options have expanded but for me the Star of the Star today was the Retro... More

Really friendly landlord/landlady, excellent ale (recommend Wold Top 'Mallard'), wonderful food (STRONGLY recommend the 'Retro Steak') and a good old traditional country setting all result in the most perfect local you could wish for. I do sometimes struggle, however, to decide on what to chose from the extensive selection of top quality food on offer, since the cuisine far surpasses... More

Myself and my partner visited The Star Inn over the Easter bank holiday weekend following an excellent recommendation from a friend and could not believe we had never been before when we have such excellent food available, practically on our doorstep. We were greeted by the landlord and landlady, who were very friendly and made us feel welcome straight away.... More

I booked The Star Inn on Sunday 13th April for a one night stay on Saturday 19th April. The booking was made with Booking.com and it was accepted without any problem. However the following day I got a phone call from The Star Inn informing me that they had over booked and they advised me to cancel at booking.com, I... More

In response to this review: The fault here lies with Booking.com and NOT The Star Inn. All our rooms had been fully booked for over a month before this instance. unfortunately there was a fault with the Booking.com's system and it opened up all our rooms over night. When i came into the office the next day and saw the... More

If you're looking for a real country pub where you can kick off your wellies a in front of a log burner look no further. The pub is dog/hiker/biker/cyclist friendly allowing you to enjoy the countryside and come back to a friendly welcome. This is a family run pub with a homely atmosphere. The surprise was just how good the... More

What an unexpected find, we booked through Late Bookings and were looking for a dog friendly hotel for one night. The village was so quiet when we arrived, everywhere closed on a Friday afternoon at 5 pm but once the pub opened what a difference. People just kept coming but from where ???? Book I advance for both rooms and... More

We did not know what to expect when booking into the Star Inn other than it is pet friendly and was closed not so long ago. Congratulations to Will, Ali and team for ensuring we had a lovely stay. Dinner was exactly as described - good value pub grub. The pub was busy and the clientele very friendly. The room... More
