Having visited the Inn some 5 years ago mybhisband and I were really excited to bring our new camper up and 'wild camp' in the grounds of this beautiful old pub. I rang the day before and spoke to a very friendly young lady who explained we could park in the carpark and enjoy all the Tan HIll has to... More

Stayed here for one night when walking the Pennine Way from Hawes. I have to admit that I totally loved my overall experience here. I had booked a room in the bunkhouse for just £25 (including breakfast), which was a bargain. Had a decent night's sleep due to having the entire room to myself. The bar was good with a... More

As predicted this was a welcome sight after walking from Horton in Ribblesdale on the Pennine Way. It really is miles from anywhere and the wind is bracing but views are amazing and the welcome warm. My room was comfortable and had all that I needed although it looked a bit 'tired'. I ate in the bar which had a... More

What a treat. We arrived for an overnight stay, B&B with my husband, son and daughter at the start of a stay in Yorkshire. My son and husband stayed outside in their tent as they have done many times before when walking The Penine Way! The welcome from the manager was wonderful and warm as was the roaring fire, although... More

Good food, beer and company. Serviceable room could be better maintained, fantastic location, nothing else for miles. A refuge. Very much hope to go back some day. If you cycle as I did beware of the route east, track is murder, not to mention the weather.

I have just returned from my trip to the highest inn in Great Britain and despite 6" rain falling in 12 hours decided to camp, I was there for the Sky Folk and Roots festival which was being hosted at the Inn great fun but not the issue here. The initial welcome was frosty being a southerner I could expect... More

Visited Tan Hill for Pennine Sky Folk & Roots Music weekend in August. The welcome was outstanding and the staff were brilliant. Our room was comfortable and clean with lots of hot water. The food was generous and tasty. The wine and real ale were excellent. It is a wild and wonderful place to visit!!!

Tan hill what can i say. FAB location. Lovely for walkers campers etc. We drove not fit enough for the walk. Lol. Friendly staff. Lovely homely pub. Nice pint. Didn't eat there but food looked good. Their inside beer garden was great with log burner and a stage for bands. The owners very passionate about the place. This was my... More

Visited Tan Hill again this time to camp on the first day of our round trip. Welcomed immediately and recommended the ale we described. We sat by the roaring fire because the weather left a lot to be desired - which makes this place even more impressive as it was packed all evening despite the terrible weather. There was scheduled... Wanted to show my partner and my son this mad, quaint pub at the top of the Yorkshire Dales. Previously been before, but not eaten here. There is always a nice warm welcoming, the food is quite nice, and the scenery and deco of the pub is excellent. Always worth a visit.
