Food fresh cooked and a good choice. Veg and soup change every day. Comfortable lounge and restaurant. Rooms good. beds good. We came down from the north on the M6. Off at Tebay (Wrong choice). Come in from the Kendal turn off to Hawes and turn right and go over the moor into Twaite. This is quicker, easier and less... More

great location Paul Wendy, the staff are all friendly, our room number 9 was comfortable and clean with large bathroom, we had breakfast and dinner both days which there was plenty of choice and great location overlooking the dales. A very good stay.

We are regular visitors to this hotel having found it 12 years ago when staying in nearby Muker and have been on numerous occasions since. A cosy comfortable friendly hotel serving excellent food. New owners Paul, Wendy and family have made some subtle changes and improvements and then there's always Elsie around to greet us plus Graham working his magic... More

Booked on the strength of the previous reviews and definitely not disappointed. We stayed in room 9, which has a lovely big bathroom, which includes a heated towel rail. Plenty of storage space. The meal on our first night was included in our deal and was lovely...hence why we ate in the hotel on our second night too. Mackerel pate... More

My wife and I have been going to the Kearton for over 30 years and I must say that Paul and Wendy have maintained the excellent standards that we had been accustomed to. They had a very hard act to follow and they have done it in style. There has been some small changes to routines but they take nothing... More

On arrival nice to see a friendly face in Elsie. We booked room 9. Nice and quiet. Not much of a view. Room clean and bathroom looked new. Only down side was the boiler flue near to window. Food just as good as ever. Met new owner - Paul very pleasant and made us feel welcome. For the price we... More

My wife and I stayed for 1 night DBB. It did seem a bit odd that you had to order your dinner at 6.30 ready for serving at 7.00, but the food was excellent . Also breakfast between 8.30 and 9.00 is a bit limiting bearing in find that most of the guests are there for a relaxing holiday, but... More

Room was at the front with a view over the hills, spacious, beds very comfortable, en suite immaculately serviced too. Stayed 5 nights with family nothing was too much trouble for Paul and his great team. Food was all freshly cooked, locally sourced and lots of little touches beautifully prepared and baked by the staff. A very friendly and efficiently run... More

We stayed at a cottage across the road but failed to book a table for our first night. The next night we did and we were rewarded with an excellent meal. There is once choice of sitting 6:30 for 7:00pm. The menu choice catered for all tastes and it was a difficult task to choose as a few dishes looked... More

Our seventh year, with new owners (April 2014) Paul and Wendy have made some improvements, including a box of tissues and bottles of water in the rooms, plus - big bonus- a full length mirror. You would think that had been doing this for years, so thank you both. New staff (Elsie still supremo) are excellent and very friendly. Graham... More
