The Kearton has recently undergone a change of ownership, this for me has gone very well and I believe the Kearton has in the past, is now and will remain a first choice venue for any stay in Swaledale or the general area of the North Yorkshire dales. I wish every success to the new owners and their staff. There... More

Difficult to believe the negative reviews. Just had three lovely nights here. Everything really was perfect. Food and service excellent. Very friendly. Comfortable room. Great views. What more could you want!

Arrived with group of cycling friends for a weekend of cycling, walking. Overall this is good place to stay, but from our point of view one or two areas need improvement. One of our party asked for scrambled egg for breakfast, apparently this (turned the kitchen upside down) I asked for porridge the night before. This request was not forthcoming.... More

We had a great stay here. The location is great with amazing views from the hotel. The rooms were extremely comfortable and it was very good value on the bed, breakfast and evening meal plan. My only criticism is about the food service which was very slow. All the guests go to the lounge before dinner at a set time... More

Warm welcome. Bedrooms and lounge/ bar area very pleasant. Location - excellent for walking in a very picturesque area. Hmmm......food service! Breakfast only served between 8.30 and 9am but lots of waiting as they were trying to serve everyone within that time slot. Dinner apparently served between 6 and 6.30. In fact what happened was that all guests arrived in... More

We visited the Kearton Hotel at the May Bank holiday weekend. We were apprehensive before the visit because of negative comments seen on Trip Advisor. We should not have worried, when we arrived, we were warmly greeted by new owners Paul and Wendy and were pleased to see that Elsie and Graham are still part of the team. The bedroom,... More

We have made many visits to Swaledale, perhaps the most beautiful of the Yorkshire dales. The Kearton is under new ownership and if anything better than before. This family run hotel offers friendship from the most affable new owners, clean and more than adequate rooms, excellent ensuite facilities, and very good food at an unbelievably reasonable rate. If visiting the... More

Went here for lunch with my son. We have been here a few times over the years & have always enjoyed it, however not on this occasion. The food was mediorce. However the service wasn't...I asked for a glass of water to come with my coffee, my coffee arrived which seemed to take forever, but not the water. Upon leaving... More

Felt very unwelcome; the owners seemed unsure about serving coffee just before 5pm on a Friday as they said they were meant to be closed. Being dripping wet from the rain, it felt very awkward - this place is not for walkers at all. Coffee & tea, served with two ginger biscuits and two slices of (tasty) fruit cake, plus... More

Whilst staying in the area over Easter we called in for breakfast at the Kearton. The full English was excellent. Coffee was served with very tasty homemade ginger biscuits . We were so impressed we called again for delicious scones served with jam and cream. We received a lovely welcome from the new owner Paul and his daughter. They took... More
