I've stayed in a number of travelodges, so I've an idea of what to expect, and it's usually a fair balance of facilities for the cost. One that is slap bang in a motorway service area is not going to be a picturesque stay. However I was not prepared for a small hot stuffy room with only one moulded plastic... More

Having been informed when booking that this hotel had yet to be refurbished and having only paid £28 for a Monday night, I was delighted to find the room did indeed have the new bed and bedding. Also the room and reception had been brightened up with stronger lightbulbs and fresh white paintwork on the walls. Having rung a few... More

Really friendly, relaxed and professional staff. Went out of their way to help us. Provided ironing board and iron. Claire on reception managed to switch a booking for a member of our party who accidentally booked the Travelodge down the road so we could all stay together. Decor is a little tired but clean room/bathroom and comfy bed. Exceptional value... More

We stayed in the Travelodge scotch corner, for 1 night with myself, my hubby and my two children. On checking in, the receptionist told us that if we show our room key at most of the shops in the nearby service station, we would receive up to 20% off our purchases, which was amazing. The room itself was basic but... More

We stayed at this Travelodge after a long journey from Kent, first impression when we walked down the corridor towards our room was the horrible damp floaty smell that was also there in our cell (sorry room). The room was cold when we went in, there were no curtains up just a roller blind and there were no pictures up... More

We're not big fans of travellodge having had not so great experiences in the past. However, this was the cheapest option for a nearby wedding. We didn't have high hopes but were surprised by the very comfy bed! The room was a touch outdated (refurb coming soon apparently) but it was spotlessly clean. It was fairly quiet but it was... More

This was a one night stopover and was conveniently located. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and fortunately recommended a local pub for an evening meal. The onsite eating options consisted of a burger chain and another offering sandwiches. The bed was comfortable although the room looked in need of decoration. The bathroom was also in need of... We stayed for two nights at the holiday weekend. The rooms are small and very sparsely decorated, plain walls with no pictures. A blackout blind covers the window but there are no curtains to cover the edges. The room was exceptionally hot during the night even though the radiator was off. There is a hanging rail for your clothes but... More

Nice friendly place to stay if you need a stopover. Rooms comfortable if quite basic. The place is going to have an upgrade soon apparently so will improve. Could do with more tea/coffee in room but reception will supply more if asked. In all a pleasant experience.

The travel lodge is idealy placed to get easy acces to all the stuff that us annoracks like, York, North York Moors Railway and Beamish. the hotel staff were friendly and welcomming, the rooms were good and the beds comfortable, it was ideal as just a place to put your head down, boxed breakfasts were available, but we're blokes and...
